Lavish subsidies unfairly encouraged large rice crops in India and hurt farmers throughout the world by driving down prices, said the trade group

. “The artificially low-priced Indian rice impacts every continent, and India is projected to break their own export record again this year,” said the group, which said the White House should file a WTO challenge to the subsidies.
India is the world’s largest rice exporter by far and is second only to China in rice and wheat production.

In 2020, India’s ag exports were worth $39 billion, said the WTO counter-notification. “India’s agricultural export growth of 65% from 2010-2020 has been supported by India’s rice exports, which increased by 244% over the same period, accounting for 24% of all Indian agricultural exports."

A small but interesting observation is that China has changed protocol of security details for VIP.

The Chinese guard or head of security detail for Macron is wearing a (regular) police uniform rather than PAP uniform in the past.

I'm sure the rifles are empty or even just non functional replicas. How about the bayonets? Are they real or blunt replicas? Just imagine how easily a rogue soldier could cause some serious harm diplomatically... or even a war...

They are professional and most definitely psychologically screened, has it ever happened in modern times where a Honor guard went rogue?

It is more like lackluster face saving. They got outmaneuvered in the last few months. China successfully isolated USA away in many affairs especially in the middle east. This is the USA trying to say I am still here but it won't work because everyone know they have no interest in solving problems. And with China-brokered Iran-Saudi normalisation nobody needs the USA in the middle east anymore.

China simulates striking Taiwan on second day of drills

A source familiar with the security situation in the region told Reuters that China had been conducting simulated air and sea attacks on "foreign military targets" in the waters off Taiwan's southwestern coast.

"Taiwan is not their only target," the source said, speaking on condition of anonymity as they were not authorised to speak to the media. "It's very provocative."
The security source said about 20 military ships, half from Taiwan and half from China, were engaged in a stand-off near the Taiwan Strait's median line, which has for years served as an unofficial barrier between the two sides, but did not behave provocatively.
Zhao Xiaozhuo of China's Academy of Military Sciences told the Chinese state-backed Global Times newspaper this was the first time China had openly talked of simulated attacks on targets in Taiwan.

Key targets would include infrastructure such as runways, military logistics facilities and mobile targets "to annihilate them in one fell swoop if necessary", the report cited Zhao as saying.

The ridiculous thing is, all these moves China has made are all just warn ups and stage setting preparatory moves. None of them are direct counter attacks against American interests, all the damage America is feeling are very much spillovers and side effects.

China could deliver a whole series of devastating direct attacks immediately, but instead it is working to minimise blowback and collateral damage against China first. Because for decades, China’s primary defence against America attacking China is to mutually connect each other’s economies, whereby America will hurt itself as much, if not more than China with any economics or hot war. That strategy worked while America behaved rationally. But as Trump-Biden proved, America is no longer willing or able to act relationally. They basically blew past all the stages of grief and are now at the the suicide bomber stage of the uncharted lunatic zone way off the normal map.

China is slowly edging away while throwing distractions America’s way, to get itself safely outside of the blast radius before starting to seriously strike back.

I’ve said in the past that the west has lusted after China and dreamt of controlling China, not just for its vast territory but also its entire civilisation and people. They want to be gods of the civilisation that created gunpowder, paper, the wheelbarrow and now modern technologies like 5G and quantum communication. The west has lusted after China the way a stalker obsesses over Taylor swift.

And in the short instances where they did control some aspect of Chinese people, abominations have arisen like Saruman creating Uruk-hai from splicing orc and elvish bloodlines in torment and pain, we see this in the form of Falun Gong and Chinese Christian cults which combine the very worse aspects of both western and Asian cultures.

The mormons of the CIA and the Catholics of the FBI along with their unprincipled beltway bosses would love nothing better than China as a massive Philippines/ South Korea utterly beholden and enslaved to Anglo American power

what use are American dollars when the only thing China ever needed from America - tech - is denied to them?

and Australian whistleblowers who alert the public to the war factions in government, are persecuted

funny, is this how a liberal democracy is supposed to behave? Seems liberal democracies devolve into autocracies when the going gets tough. It just highlights how Anglos As a culture have no principles.

Amazing, maybe Xi reminded Macron he is a French man and must honour the memories of napoleon and degaulle

Politico interviewed Macron in plane while returning from China lol

Europe must resist pressure to become ‘America’s followers,’ says Macron

The ‘great risk’ Europe faces is getting ‘caught up in crises that are not ours,’ French president says in interview.
Europe must reduce its dependency on the United States and avoid getting dragged into a confrontation between China and the U.S. over Taiwan, French President Emmanuel Macron said in an interview on his plane back from a three-day state visit to China.

Speaking with POLITICO and two French journalists after spending around six hours with Chinese President Xi Jinping during his trip, Macron emphasized his pet theory of “strategic autonomy” for Europe, presumably led by France, to become a “third superpower.”
He said “the great risk” Europe faces is that it “gets caught up in crises that are not ours, which prevents it from building its strategic autonomy,” while flying from Beijing to Guangzhou, in southern China, aboard COTAM Unité, France’s Air Force One.
“The paradox would be that, overcome with panic, we believe we are just America’s followers,” Macron said in the interview. “The question Europeans need to answer … is it in our interest to accelerate [a crisis] on Taiwan? No. The worse thing would be to think that we Europeans must become followers on this topic and take our cue from the U.S. agenda and a Chinese overreaction,” he said.
“Europeans cannot resolve the crisis in Ukraine; how can we credibly say on Taiwan, ‘watch out, if you do something wrong we will be there’? If you really want to increase tensions that’s the way to do it,” he said.
He also suggested Europe should reduce its dependence on the “extraterritoriality of the U.S. dollar,” a key policy objective of both Moscow and Beijing.
“If the tensions between the two superpowers heat up … we won’t have the time nor the resources to finance our strategic autonomy and we will become vassals,” he said.
