I don't know if it's a US government lie or just a Business Insider lie because a large number of greatest CIA failures in history regard China. The CIA trained thousands of Tibetans to be insurgents and when they were sent into China not one of them was ever heard from again. Or how about during the Cold War the US would get word that a high valued Chinese wanted to defect out of China and then when the CIA sent an American to sneak and fly into China to pick this person up, they were greeted by the military and arrested. Then you have the CIA notoriously discriminate against people, i.e. gays and non-whites, because they believe there was a likelihood of them being compromised as spies for the US when straight white men are more likely to fall into honeytraps. I don't know where they get this idea that the CIA was so confident.

This idiot thinks the US can choose what to decouple and what not to decouple. He just doesn't learn the lesson from the Russian sanctions and the repercussion such as the weakening of the dollar hegemony.

Who says China doesn't have soft power? BTW, VOA has now been labeled as state-affiliated by Twitter.
It’s like an Anglo Australian watching American films and tv and identifying with the white american characters therein. A bit difficult trying to get Australians to go to war against Americans after that, dontcha think?

Chinese films and tv are already popular in Japan hence why most young Japanese don’t see China as an enemy compared to boomer Japanese. My boomer father hasn’t moved on mentally since the 1970s and I dare say a lot of young Taiwanese who express independence are mostly doing so for the sake of their boomer and generation X parents.

So I was reading about Le Le, the panda, returning to China and there's a link to how musician Billie Eilish a year ago joining the effort to return Le Le back to China. Here's a criticism of her credibility as an advocate.

In spite of Eilish's support becoming Twitter-official, some unknowns remain: It's unlikely that either pandas are suffering, given their status as assets on loan from the Chinese government. It's also unclear if Eilish has ever seen the pandas in person.

So one has to have witnessed it themselves to be an advocate...? Word of mouth is not good enough? Well that declares any accusation in the West of China's human rights record as not credible. When the shoe is on the other foot, they make excuses.

They're confident because there is nobody strong enough to bring repercussions to the US. Who's gonna hold them accountable, the UN or ICC? Yeah right, with what army?

Might makes right. Not an opinion but an observation.

The man has higher ambitions and I think he's more or less trying to position himself for higher political office down the road i.e. the Presidency. The man is only 39 years old, a war veteran who served his country ably in the illegal war of Iraq. Has a beautiful telegenic wife (actress) which is an asset in today's Republican party since they're going all out against the Democrats insane tack in embracing 100 genders and trans culture nonsense. So the man is possibly trying in positioning himself to become the Repub version of Jack Kennedy if his political calculations ( allegiance to Donald Trump) and machinations pan out then who knows.
