Of all the major Western leaders, Macron is probably the most charismatic.
Even in this thread you can see that effect.
Anyway, I tend to not focus that much to individual leaders and instead prefer to see things from an overall point of view. Leaving Macron aside, France is a vassal territory of the American Empire. That Macron says a couple of good things and signs some business deals with China doesn't change that fact.
When you say that, that use of language paper overs a real crack that is plainly evident.
Step back for a second, and consider what happened the past few months, and coming months.
Germany. Netherlands. Spain. France. Italy. And Xi Jinping made a trip to Russia.
All the important countries of Western Europe all coming to China for a state visit. Whereas China refuses to discuss anything with those damn Biden people.
That is a real crack, that if the Americans are not careful with, it will open up real wide real quick.
To say they are vassals is to ignore this crack.
The Americans thought they had Saudi Arabia firmly on their side of things being a treaty ally, and the Americans definitely thought their maximum pressure campaign against Iran meant they held the whip hand.
As we have seen, American ideas about their foreign relations, all false.
