"France will resist US pressure to decouple"
What would that translate to though? Renegotiate the CAI?

Still regardless of the details such moves by EU key members to look out for themselves instead of bet on US will make Japan and South Korea nervous. I'm still betting if there's a country first jump out and stab US in the back it will be Japan.

So China survives on the grace of the Westerners? Why does this sound oddly familiar?

Roughly 10 years ago, there was a big stink in the American media about lead contaminated Jewelry from Claire's, lead contaminated toys, Formaldehyde floor boards from Lumber Liquidators, H2S-off gassing Katrina rebuilding drywall etc.

This was all heralded as "proof" of crap Chinese quality, or "China trying to kill us". etc.

The whole time I thought, "This is just passing the buck!" 90% of the blame should go to the American companies. You are telling me that executives of these big companies are so naive and stupid to think that products they buy a the lowest absolute cost does not have the highest risk of having cut corners somewhere?

Now we have an update on the eye drops situation and the terrible state of the factory in India

On the second inspection day, an inspector also noted a "black, brown colored greasy deposit" on parts of the filling machine, and the facility's equipment logbook noted that it hadn't been cleaned in nearly a month. A few days later, a manager told the inspector that there was "no procedure for cleaning" the filling machine.

So likely there are some forged quality checks here (and in the above examples too), but even then, there needs to be an honest assessment of what you are doing Stateside to protect people.

At the risk of continuing this forum's pastime of dogpiling onto India:

This article was from 2014! So even then it is known that India does not have the best practices when it comes to drug manufacturing. However, I think you have to cut them some slack. They are a poor country, If they don't cut corners, the people get no drugs at all. They don't get the drugs, they will die anyway in some cases.

So the US government, knowing full well of this issue, has this as a solution:

Truly this is a sad state of affairs. These elected officials, supposedly serving your interests, do nothing but make the situation worse and then blame others. Absolutely no accountability. It is disgusting.

LOL rich coming from a perpetual racist c..t spewing your anti-China spiel on various forums. Settle down with your moral indignation man, and now that your country is a part of NATO there's no need to worry about those hapless Russians that as you said could not even beat a country with one of the largest military in Europe not to mention well prepared and armed by the champions of human rights (if you're white) freedom (fake freedom) and democracy (oligarchic rule and false choice) U.S. led imperialist pseudo-defensive alliance called NATO.

Macron won't actually do anything to resist the USA. For instance, he unilaterally banned Huawei when the Germans (and a big Italian company) are still using it. He could unban Huawei, but he won't.

France has supported the USA in literally every single dispute it's had with China, and it always will. I literally cannot think of a single time when France sided with China over the USA in one of their disputes in all of human history.

Let's say the USA demanded Airbus stop selling planes to China. Would Macron resist this USA demand? No, he'd publicly complain and pretend to spend a lot of time earnestly pondering the matter and finally, say half a year later, ban Airbus from selling planes to China.

Nevertheless I believe that China should privately and publicly accept Macron's proposal to help bring about peace in Ukraine - which is a good thing anyways. China can make public statements supporting peace. Xi can say he wants peace. He can tell Putin that too. In fact, Xi can even promise to relay messages from France supporting peace to Russia. He can preserve Macron's statement and read it aloud to Putin in one of their meetings. Xi can say something like this.

I just remembered - the Honorable Emmanuel Macron asked me to send you the following French message. These are his words.

> "blah blah blah blah blah blah blah blah blah blah"

This is Mr. Macron's message. If you have any response, I'm happy to relay it back to the French. Otherwise, let's discuss...

The Australian Intel Chief is now pounding about this lmao.

He has given 2 potential solutions.

1) US must pool resources with UK/AUS to defeat China in Tech.

2) Start mass hiring of Chinese and Russian scientists to stifle China.

Why would you not want the smartest Indians and Russians and Chinese out of those countries and in your country?” he said.
The US is losing ground to China on technological innovation and must pool its resources with the UK and Australia if it hopes to regain dominance in the region and globally, the director general of Australia’s Office of National Intelligence, Andrew Shearer,

CAI was immensely beneficial for euros, it is hardly a favour to China.

The second will never happen because according to American "intelligence" agencies, any Chinese or Russian scientist is a security risk.

That said, China should offer more $$$ for its scientists to ensure they stay in China. I've never understood why brilliant Chinese scientists are paid less than middle level managers at Alibaba and social media celebrities.
