Another anti-China EU politician plans to visit China. Between Ursula von der Leyen and Annalena Baerbock, I don't know which one is more insane. If I had a say, I would send them packing before the plane touches down.

Nah, let them come. In fact let everyone and their grandma come as long as they are not Blinken, Sullivan, or Yellen. Let the dogs come but not the master.

Special thanks to Kevin McCarthy for respecting the One China Policy. Unfortunately, under the RESTRICT act this would be considered promoting SeeSeePee propaganda so you will have to room with Bubba for twenty years or President Xi liberates you, whichever one comes first.
So far not one person who's a somebody from the Democrats have met Tsai, it's all small fries from GOP. So it's mainly McCarthy and Pompeo to watch out for at the moment.

In fact this is strange enough that Taiwanese news are suspecting maybe Biden and Xi made a deal to demonstrate sincerity for dialogue and they're using Tsai as an opportunity to demonstrate good behavior from Democrats and to show that Biden indeed can control his party. Some of them are already calling this Biden's "Empty Fort Strategy" and that Tsai is shown as just a piece on the board that can easily be sacrificed if necessary.

I heard the best shit talk from KMT for a long time on this occasion. One of them is saying Tsai is “挤自己的奶 - 自取其辱”.

Anglo mouthpieces have been ordered to issue puff pieces for Saudi Arabia in the hopes that they won't completely ditch the petrodollar.

whilst inconveniently leaving out that it was China that built Saudi's HSR.
China and russia just concluded naval drills, to prepare against Anglo pirates.

China's statement on the outcome of the Saudi-Iran rapprochement. That world's largest refinery in China thanks to Saudis is a welcome gift for long term Chinese support for the saudis. I hazard a guess we'll start seeing Saudi royals attending schools in China as opposed to the UK.

I gotta say when you look back to 2021, Biden's team- really, Blinken, Sullivan et al- really fumbled the ball when it came to China. All they had to do was at least go back to the era pre Trump and they would've had a softer landing compared to the brick wall that's coming for them.

China and Russia- as late as 2021 were mooting the idea of a 'great power relationship', of mutual respect.
And yet the coke addled, pizza gate corrupted brains of the Beltway elites just couldn't accept a more equitable world order. A generation brought up on cold war paranoia and unipolar 90s era nostalgia are simply incapable of rational though in this respect. Even the millennials in Congress like tom cotton and josh hawley and that fat karen in the TikTok hearing are simply incapable of accepting that they have to manage the decline of the US.

So they will be forced to accept reality, in the same way a profligate trust fund kid has to accept being cut off from his money.

Tom Cotton will be forced to accept the reality that his kid just one first place on a crappy Xi Jinping Thoughts themed game show.

Cottons father was also a U.S. senator which is NOT an indication of nepotism and shows that ANYONE can become a U.S. senator….so long as they have a senator father, money and connections to stay out of active combat duties whilst in the armed forces. I don’t think Tom cotton got his ass shot at in Fallujah is what I’m saying.

Bloody hell, there go my plans to use Finland as my refuge for when Armed Reunification starts. Seems i'll have to fall back to Cuba or Argentina.

Dunning-Kruger effect seems to apply most strongly to Indian house slaves of the West. Their absolute confidence in Western domination would be laughable if it weren't so pathetic. They've internalized their sense of racial inferiority, but take comfort in being better off than the field slaves back home. And so they are the most confident defenders of the existing power structure (and most strongly against anyone seeking to overturn it). Meanwhile, the actual leaders in the power structure are having an existential crisis and pulling any lever available in the hopes that it does something. Their power is slipping away year by year, and they know it.

The house is on fire, the owner is a megalomaniacal, drug-addled dementia sufferer, and the Indian house slave is dusting the books in the study while shit talking the field slaves. Any time the owner tells the house slave they are worried and smell smoke, the house slave says comforting words to the owner (which of course the house slave fully believes in as well). There's no smoke! There's no fire! Everything is fine! Don't worry about the inferior field slaves. Meanwhile the field slaves are watching the burning house with pitchforks ready.

You know ...

That is what I thought too, 30 years ago. No joke.

I also thought there would be an uprising over there.

Wrong again!

They are a very spiritual people. The reincarnation forever, until you reach Nirvana, until then life is suffering.

As for the rest of us, India's biggest export will continue to be its people.

Yes, that is the same thing I heard 30 years, spoken by a Singaporean. They knew the score.

Probably that CEO TikTok's man relative or something.

:oops::D

Now, to be fair, in North American context, TTC is great. The subway is actually pretty frequent (it's a subway, duh) and fairly reliable. The bus network is actually extensive, and also frequent and decently reliable, making living in suburbs without a car actually somewhat tolerable (and millions of working-class Torontonians who cannot afford a car actually do rely on TTC).

Torontonians do complain a lot, and rightfully so. But compared to being at the whims of YRT and DRT and friends (i.e. transit agencies of some of the outer suburban municipalities, not under the juristiction of City of Toronto), or having to sit in some random GO train station for THREE HOURS because GO transit sh*t the bed, and ended up having to be shuttle-bused back to my home, TTC really isn't that bad. It's got a bad rap precisely because many people actually uses it.

Of course, compared to major transit system of any major East Asian cities, none of them are any good. No contest. Whomever made that list must have some really good weed. I bet they ordered it from some black-market mail-order place instead of government store :D

It's a pretty low bar comparing it to YRT, don't you think? I don't see Vaughan on that list :D

My main gripe with the TTC is that the subway doesn't go to most of the attractions in the city.

Chinatown? CNE? The Zoo? Science Centre? Forget about it! Even the frickin CN Tower is a 15 minute walk away from the nearest subway station!

People complain about the bus/streetcar service because they can't take the subway to get where they need to go!

Not surprising. Contrary to China, where dynastic cycles occur every few hundred years, the ruling aristocracies of European societies tend to be long-lived and in bred. It's really funny hearing Americans talk about how democratic they are when they are essentially ruled by a hereditary oligarchy - it's all just a performance.
