An interesting tender document from Huangpu Shipyard, which is responsible for building many 054A frigates, 056 corvettes, and various auxiliaries. The document asks for independent consultants to submit bids to provide the shipyard with pricing research services. Specifically, the winner of the bid will help Huangpu obtain pricing information on various equipment associated with a DQ ship. DQ could well be a shorthand for large destroyer (大驱舰/大型驱逐舰). If so, Huangpu might be gearing up for or at least exploring the financial viability of building 055s.

A helpful satellite view. In fact, 055 appears to be longer above the waterline than the Type 903/903A replenishment ship, which tallies with publicly available specs on these ships.

IIRC 903A's overall length is 178~179 meters. So 055 being roughly around this length give or take does coincide with what Redshark said about 055 being a little bit under 180 meters. Very nice confirmation.

Not much really. I'm irritated by the amount of PS there is in the China military watch community. I call it the "lesser-triggered-by-PS-than-Deino-but-still-triggered" syndrome

I have no idea why you chose a bad take tweet for a video that is frankly poor quality and seems to have been oddly cut and slowed down from the original.

Not to mention the ship it is launched from is a 052D not a 055 so you posted it in the wrong thread as well...

Could it be that the reason for the delay of building the second batch of type 055 is that they're planning for some minor/moderate improvements in the design after having the experience of building and operating the first batch?
