The Chinese SAR team in Turkey deploys lighting drones, which provides temporary illumination support for the SAR effort in the earthquake disaster zones there.

Looks like there is a thin string of wire connected to the lighting drone. I think the wire is also connected to a portable generator. That means the lighting drone can stay up in the air for as long as the drone itself is charged by the portable generator on the ground, truly an ingenious solution.

Those Iranian drones are battle tested by Russia in Ukraine to great effect.

Commercial Chinese DJI hobby drones have been much widely used by both sides to even greater effect. If China opened the flood gates and allowed the export of Chinese military combat drones, the entire Ukraine-Russia war would see almost an overnight revolution in tactics and strategy.

The Iranian drones offer absolutely nothing China couldn’t make itself cheaper, better in far larger quantities and faster.

Besides, has anyone even thought of the logistics involved in such an order even if true? Iranian drone strikes have noticeably reduced on the Ukrainian front, almost like Russia is running out of them and/or Iran is not able to keep to delivery schedules.

With Israeli itching to strike at Iranian nuclear facilities and having already attempted suicide drone strikes against Iranian munitions production facilities, even if Iran had 15k drones sitting spare in warehouses, you think it would be wise for Iran to ship them to China now?

Personably, I cannot believe how much time and words have already been wasted on such a transparently fake news story.

While it's most likely false, there are reasons why it isn't that crazy of an idea either.

If Iran offers a lease with highly favorable costs, then it would be undiplomatic for China not to accept. Iran has the incentive because they need to make moves against the US, and what better way to do so than supporting Chinese porcupine strategy?

Iran may not have that high capacity, but all the key parts besides the explosives of the Shahed are procured from China. That means, Iran could simply make contracts for Chinese industries to build most of the drones.

One must also notice that there is a distinct lack of Geran flying over Ukraine right now. Enlisting Chinese industry might be a solution to that problem. The "donated" drones will end up in the hands of Russian soldiers who are more familiar with them and don't have domestic equivalents.

Yeah the commercial DJI hobby drones have been a game changer didn't really expected that to be honest in 2021.

I have no doubt about this China could produce something better and make it cheaper itself. But just like with Lithography maybe for now it's just as easy to buy those suicide drones from an ally than to setup a supply and factory line to produce them yourself. Those resources can then be used to produce other war tools, gadgets and weapon system.

On second thought they actually had a legitimate reason to shoot it down regardless of nationality of balloon this time. It apparently has lost control and is drifting at civilian airline altitude. It really was a hazard this time around.

That said it doesn’t change the fact that the self goal is funny as hell. Way to go shooting down an American spy balloon.
