Mach 10? that's a lot faster than anyone would imagine...how credible is this?
The Mach-10 claim is made by the official Weibo Account of the PLA Strategic Support Force, so there's that.

However, this announcement does come as a surprise. I'm thinking that this could be a message for DC, perhaps regarding to McCarthy's planned visit to Taiwan sometime in April this year.

Do we have a rough idea of YJ-21's range. current speculations range from 700 km to 1500 km. I think 1500 km is too much of a stretch given the small size of YJ-21 relative to 1700km-range DF-21 class ballistic missiles. However, 700km sounds too small, especially if YJ-21 is capable of the sanger trajectory. Anyone with an educated speculation?

Probably depends on the flight profile.

Above is a screen capture from a presentation some years ago by Rear Admiral Zhao Dengping, former deputy director of Bureau of Naval Equipment, in which he talked about future development of PLAN anti-ship missiles:
#1 - Near-space hypersonic anti-ship missile
#2 - Shipborne anti-ship ballistic missile
#3 - Anti-ship/land attack cruise missile (warzone cruise?, target reload?)

So far, from what is being described around military forums and observer circles, YJ-21 is being classified as an anti-ship ballistic missile (AShBM), hence #1.

Though, I'm curious as to how the developmental work on the other two missiles have gone so far...

We have yet to see CJ-10 LACM launched from 052Ds or 055s.

Sh1t. I meant to say that the YJ-21 should be #2, not #1. Dang it.

Regarding "Warzone Cruise/Target Reload," I suppose they are describing a battlefield loitering capability, as well as the capability to audible to pre-programmed flex (alternate) targets while in-mission.

Same stuff TACTOM can do, and afaik DF-10A already has the latter functionality.

DF-10/CJ-10 is not a naval missile, though. The Type 055 and possibly Type 052D will be using a land-attack variant of the YJ-18.
