Anne Sacoolas: Former US spy avoids jail over death of teen motorcyclist Harry Dunn

Anne Sacoolas has been sentenced to eight months in prison, suspended for 12 months, for causing the death of teenage motorcyclist Harry Dunn by careless driving.

Sacoolas, 45, was driving her Volvo on the wrong side of the B4031 in Northamptonshire, a two-lane road with a 40mph limit, when she hit Harry, 19, who was riding in the opposite direction.

The former US spy was sentenced in an "unprecedented" case at the Old Bailey - but did not attend the hearing in person after American officials stepped in.

Well I agree with your point about the Japanese. Many of them do have a hatred of China that they don't express outwardly. And their historical brutality against the Chinese is leagues above uglier than anything the Koreans have done. The only credit I give to the Japanese, is that today, most of them are more respectful of the Chinese (although doing so grudgingly). Other nationalities like the South Koreans, Westerners, and Indians are more outwardly hostile and disrespectful towards the Chinese. I'm sure that there are many Japanese who gleefully approve of that behind closed doors.

The South Koreans in my view have not done anything bad to the Chinese that could rival Imperial Japan. Nevertheless, there exists intense racism against the Chinese in South Korea. If South Korean ultra-nationalism is allowed to fester into fascism. And if given the opportunity, South Koreans might start to think of crazy ideas. They have done some terrible things in the Korean War, and the Vietnam War. Luckily for everyone, that situation is impossible today. China is a superpower today, and there is a nuclear-armed North Korea to deal with. It was the absolutely right thing that China kept North Korea alive. If it was the ROK at the border today, a situation like the India-China border could happen. And Korean racist hatred of the Chinese could possibly reach the levels of the old Imperial Japan.

Speaking about the world cup. Both Korea and Japan are out. It stands to show that building a team to win a world cup is extremely difficult. It saddens me that only SK and Japan are the Asian representative of the World Cup. But them being out also solves the dilemma of supporting either one of them as 'Team Asia'.
Yes There is definitely racism towards Chinese in south Korea, some discrimination even backed by local government policies I heard, which led to decline of Chinatown in Seoul.

In my view however anti china far right fanaticism in SK won't develop to level of hardcore insanity of Japanese equivalent leading to outright denial of war crimes and celebration of imperial achievements but we will see. I do not know what the future lies. I have seen some pretty good human to human interaction between Korean and Chinese of both countries. I have some hope for the future for them.

It's is difficult. There are so many factors and variables to development of football in country and building up a national team that can compete at the highest level. Very different from building up, say a world class table tennis national team. It takes time, money, large talent base (I know Uruguay won it few times in their history and their population is like 3m only but that won't happen again anytime soon) grassroot level facilities etc. I realize china is at different national developmental stage now and their priorities lie elsewhere but As a pro China football fan, I can only hope.

I find it ridiculous that SK thinks it is so superior because of their heavy promotion of their androgynous male artistes. They are a disgrace to the yellow race. I had a look-through of the gifs in Yahoo Mail and the only androgynous race is Korean. Cringe!
