We’ll have to wait and see. Xi quite literally just arrived.
I don't think a petroyuan will be announced now or ever. It's not something that needs to be announced; it's just a deal between buyer and seller, it involves no other party. Saudi Arabia announcing this would bring a lot of pressure from the US, and its other customers will press it for similar deals. It's much more likely that Saudi just quietly accepts yuan payments for oil going to China.

So, no petroyuan?
Petroyuan won’t be announced. It is such a sensitive issue that has major geopolitical implications for the survival of the American empire. An already desperate and unhinged empire will lash out at Saudi Arabia. It will most likely be done gradually and quietly. There is literally no benefit to announce it and get a few headlines. Bilateral trade, investment and finance will use domestic currencies similar to what’s happening in Russia-China trade.

On Chinese president visiting Saudi Arabia, I feel the "heat" here. Expectations have been built up here as well as other social media. I want to pour some cold water.

China maintains an amicable relationship will all sides in the ME region. On the one hand, China is not going to tip the balance in the region. On the other hand, China does not want to be hijacked by any side in the region. This visit is going to reveal its importance in time, but definitely not in a similar style to Trump's visit.

Saudi is playing the elephants. Saudi has to balance east and west when it comes to substances as well as optics. The fact that President Xi is visiting is the most important leverage Saudi has gained vis-a-vis the west. The Arabs know that the Chinese value long-term substances more than short-term face values.

Therefore, I don't expect any out-of-the-ball-park show during the visit. And I don't expect any in-your-face dollar amount during the visit. Any long-term agreement will not trounce the one China signed with Iran earlier.

From China's angle, the most important goal is to signal that China now values ME more important than ever. That in itself will make many people in the west sleepless, given China's capabilities and capacities in all domains that ME countries can leverage.

When GCC countries join SCO or BRICS or even RCEP over time, I expect the west will take a more pragmatic approach to China. Just imaging countries from China, Russia to Central Asia to Iran to GCC are members of those organizations. I think that would be one important step further for Xi to resolve the TW issue. 2026 is my pick.

It was all good until this. Not going to happen.

That "regional contingency stockpile". While will it be stored? On Taiwan Island? Or outside?

If it's on Taiwan island, it's gonna be a nice big fat target for the PLARF to put some hypersonic ordinance on it.

If it's outside of Taiwan island. Then the China' A2AD power would severely degrade the supply lines.

In conclusion. That US stockpile assistance to Taiwan is just a pipedream. To keep the boba separatists dreams for independence alive. That last Taipei election must have hurt their confidence badly. Too bad! Boba dreams don't put food on the table.
ROC doesn't even store most of their munitions on Taiwan Island, they actually keep about half of their missiles in the USA.
This is just basically two things
1. Virtue signalling this "great, the greatest, very bigly support" for Taiwan
2. Free loan/money printing for MIC companies to profit from (just like how the aid is given to Israel, basically the US government foots the bill as long as they get US arms)

Russia and US swap prisoners Viktor Bout (Arms Dealer)and Brittney Griner (Basketball Player)

Russia and the US have conducted a high-level prisoner swap, involving businessman Viktor Bout and WNBA star Brittney Griner.

On Thursday, the Russian Foreign Ministry said that the two individuals has been exchanged in Dubai. Bout had been in a US prison for 11 years serving a 25-year term, while Griner was sentenced to a penal colony in Russia on drug smuggling charges.

The swap took place at Abu Dhabi airport in the United Arab Emirates, following lengthy negotiations between the two countries, according to the Russian Foreign Ministry

The reactions on social media platforms are funny. It’s amusing that a US marine is still in a Russian prison but the basketball player was more important.

Pakistan is in deep poo poo.
They have currently only $6 billion of reserves, of which $5 billion are Saudi Arabia and China deposits which can not be used (yes, Saudi Arabia and China are not that stupid to give free money).

So basically, Pakistan has only $1 billion in their foreign reserves lol
