Chinese language section

There are many recent US postings of mandarin-speaking OSINT analysts recently (atleast 12 openings)

So a Chinese section would be an easy honeypot for these foreign OSINT reviewers, or at minimum a easy place for foreigners to trigger some Chinese nationalist to spill the beans over some trivial egoistical argument ( a la Patchwork episode). That's asking for SDF to be blocked in China.

SDF does not need a VPN to be accessible on the mainland. If we host CD 2.0, then for sure it will get blocked.

So if mainland users want, they can go the @FORBIN route and post in broken English via a translator extension. If we can understand FORBIN, for sure we can understand Baidu Translate. It would be inconvenient, but it won't risk SDF getting inaccessible or requiring VPN.

Who cares if it's blocked though lol. They already use VPNs for everything...

I think the goals of adding a Chinese language section is mutually conflicting, if having more Chinese people in the website will increase knowledge, but at the same time we don't want any leaks happening, how do we fufill both without them conflicting?

After all who determines what knowledge is off limits and what isn't? Also what is the point of a military forum if everything is based off speculation without any insider knowledge, are we really better than Reddit then? We won't know the answer to the first question until the website gets blocked in China, or one of our Chinese users gets a knock on their door from state security.

I don't think adding a Chinese language only section is necessary for SDF. The 9 years Compulsory Education and 3 years of high school in China already include English language course, many Chinese especially young people who often use the internet do have good English. Translations tools can also help for anyone who wish to understand English content.

Most importantly I worry that this Chinese language only section will be quickly flooded with too many people, where many of them are haters and trolls, and become some public forum like reddit, not a military forum any more. I have witnessed changes of that sort for r/China_irl.
