Why? They're simply being diplomatic and there's absolutely nothing wrong in my view to attend the state funeral of a country’s head of state, even if that country (U.K.) is creating fissure with respect to China's core issues and other areas.

It would be stupidly petty if China were to act just as petty, foolish, and infantile like how most western countries have acted recently, best exemplified by the woke style politics in the UK. U.S. and elsewhere.
Moreover Chinese delegation were invited in the first place. Which makes this affair rather strange. Was it genuine faux pas or UK deliberately acting childish on world stage? China takes the high road as always. Good on them.

Christianity (at least protestant) is apolitical and personal faith, any cults that claims to be championing political movements or claim God's support behind genocidal regimes are just that, cults.

High tens of millions seem to be a reasonable estimate of how many Christians are in China, almost all of them being just normal people from different walks of life, including politicians. Politicians are not allowed to show favor in official settings to any 1 faith, it's something that has to stay in their personal life.

I don't think there's anything more problematic with Christianity as with Islam or Buddhism. In the past, "Christian" regimes created some of the most dystopian and oppressive conditions in the world, but same can be said for Buddhism under the Gelug sect. The lesson is that religion should always stay out of the government, and cults that try to control their members should be eradicated.
Not true. All western forms of Christianity are cults and are inherently political. They undermine central control of China by the CCP. If you want evidence, look no further than South Korea.

Christianity in China needs to be treated the same as Falun Gong.

I have an interest in some of the older forms of Christianity that existed in China and Asia that weren't influenced by the west, like Nestorianism. Unfortunately those are now extinct.

These Western/Korean Christians are often spread in rural areas with the middle-aged and older generations. Since the older generation has authority in the family, especially in rural areas, they tend to spread religion within the family.

I agree that Christianity is not good for the Chinese and should not be allowed to expand.

Putin says Russia is in "no hurry" in first public remarks on Ukrainian counteroffensive

With a grin, Putin warns Ukraine: the war can get more serious

SAMARKAND, Uzbekistan, Sept 16 (Reuters) - President Vladimir Putin on Friday brushed off a lightning Ukrainian counter-offensive with a smile but warned that Russia would respond more forcefully if its troops were put under further pressure.

Moscow, he said, was in no hurry in Ukraine. And its goals remained unchanged.

"The Kiev authorities announced that they have launched and are conducting an active counter-offensive operation. Well, let's see how it develops, how it ends up," Putin said with a grin.

It was his first public comment on a rout of his forces in northeastern Ukraine's Kharkiv region a week ago that has prompted unusually strong public criticism from Russian military commentators.

It was Parliament than imposed the ban, not the government. They did it because 7 MPs are being sanctioned by China.

Isn’t this a bit rich from the “architect” of Doklam and Galwan? I suspect Putin is merely being diplomatic here. Or perhaps it’s just simply talk for Western sound bites, in order to give India more cover for raw material purchases from Russia?
Not surprising. India was always like that "playing between east and west", trying to be favored by USSR and USA at the same time since its foundation. Everybody knows that.

I’m genuinely surprised at the amount of licks Russia has been taking esp in the aftermath of the recent Ukraine developments; I must wonder, is it possible that Russia doesn’t want to go full war mode on Ukraine because it is already in defacto war mode against essentially American NATO in Ukrainian colours?
ie Russia is already giving its all in Ukraine against nato and the result so far is stalemate?

What happened to Nestorianism in China, and in general? Why did that sect of Christianity went out like the dodos
