Absolutely not! It’s precisely this kind of behaviour that killed Western innovation and competitiveness.

Why innovate and work hard to properly compete when you can just bribe, opst, sorry, make totally legitimate political ‘donations’ and then get the very same politicians you paid so much money to to change the laws that massively benefit your company for totally unrelated and legitimate reasons? If even that isn’t enough to kneecap your competitors sufficiently, you can always paid more political contributions and get them declared a security threat and banned outright.
I’m pretty sure he was being sarcastic lol

Sun Tzu: "When in a war, try to prolong it as much as possible. Totally 0 consequences, trust me bro"
"Win NATO by economy"
"Actually, Russia can sustain this war for years!"

Russia is in trouble
For the first time since the pandemic crisis, the Russian government is launching a large-scale sequestration of the federal budget, which experienced a collapse in revenues in the summer, which statistics have not seen since at least 2011.
Since the beginning of the summer, the government has not been able to reduce revenues with expenses, and the accumulated result for June-August received 1.452 trillion rubles of deficit. As a result, almost the entire "surplus" of money that was accumulated over six months was spent by the autumn: out of 1.589 trillion rubles at the beginning of June, only 131 billion rubles remained by the end of August.
The budget is rapidly losing revenues under the pressure of sanctions and their consequences, raiffeisenbank analysts write. Difficulties with the sale of oil to Asia and the disconnection of gas to European countries led to the fact that in July oil and gas tax revenues fell by 29% year-on-year - a record for 11 years of available statistics. In August, they sank by another 13%, to a minimum for 14 months (671.9 billion rubles).
As the recession in the economy gathers momentum, the treasury receives less and less VAT, customs duties and income tax. As a result, the government needs more and more expensive oil to make ends meet. The 2022 budget would be balanced if a barrel cost $105, Orlova estimates. In fact, oil companies receive almost 30% less - $ 74.4 per barrel of Urals in August.
If we take into account inflation, then in real terms the failure of non-primary budget revenues reaches 30%, and "this is a catastrophe," says Yevgeny Suvorov, an economist at Centrocredit Bank.

I concluded the same.
Reading the leaves, it seems that China won't give the same treatment to Russia as it did before (basicaly treating it as an equal miltary/economic/diplomatic/sphere of influence power)

The next 6-12 months are going to be interesting, I very much think we will see further signs of this happening in the near future

I think you are just reading too much western propagandist accounts. There is no reason why China would mention Ukraine specifically during an SCO side meeting, the other former soviet states would be scared shitless if China said that.

The central line from the Chinese readout is
President Xi emphasized that China will work with Russia to extend strong mutual support on issues concerning each other’s core interests, and deepen practical cooperation in trade, agriculture, connectivity and other areas.
core interests: i.e., Ukraine and Taiwan

Oh I don't know about that, isn't China selling gas to Europe?
Yes, China sells American gas to Europe. China can do that only because China increased Russian gas import which makes extra gas that China must and can sell. China herself has no gas to spare as she is a pure importer. China is only passing on the commodity.

The 20 year contracts that US signed with China means that US have to export to China even though China got more Russian gas. Increasing capacity is not something can be done in short notice. While China have to buy American gas therefor must find new buyers which is Europe. I think right now, US may wish to cancel those contracts to save Europe, but China may not want to give up the profit nor give Europe the strength. The beggar has no power to bargain.

Here Bloomberg blames China exploiting Europe with American gas.
