Another Eric Schmidt hit. He doesn't seem to understand that America is going to lose ground to China in many areas because of the policies he pushed. He (and the people around him) determined that China cannot win AI, 5G and semiconductor race, so started sanctioning China. The result is that China simply realized the extent to which America will go to suppress China's growth. We will not be seeing this tremendous growth in China's chip industry supply chain, AI supply chain, 5G supply chain if not for Eric's advised policies. He advocated for policies that caused China to push harder rather than expecting regular competition. And seems to be smoking something in thinking that America can catch China in EVs and battery technology.

The fourth stage of grief: Acceptance.

Racism is seriously hampering the certain country's scientific efforts and their hamfisted attempts at being "woke" are laughably transparent ploys. It's like the old white guys who literally say "but I have a black friend how can I be racist" are making their policies.

I would have been terrified for China if they were giving scholarships to Chinese graduate students, letting them study for free in liberal arts and STEM alike, promoting Asian people as part of their POC initiatives, trying to build elite-elite ties between their oligarchs and corrupt officials, learning more Chinese to influence the Chinese right wing, etc. I was worried about seeing top leadership have their kids party in foreign countries like Bo Gua Gua. Worst of all, I thought they were gonna take Chinese science seriously and start competing for reals.

But luckily I worry too much. they can't help but be racist. They can't help but charge sky high tuition to Chinese students such that they have no time to get indoctrinated or Americanized. They can't help but discriminate Asians with the force of law. They can't help but look down on Asian languages while simultaneously discouraging people from even trying to learn them by saying they're hard, even though illiterate Xiongnu goat farmers could learn classical Chinese enough to kowtow to Han emperors. They can't help but smoke the copium from Gordon Chang and Peter Zeihan. So what's there to worry about? Qing Dynasty has opium and they didn't worry until it was too late, and copium is just as bad.

A bit off topic but just wanted to chip in about China's automotive industry

FAW, BAIC and Dongfeng are going down the same path, producing only uncompetitive own-branded cars because they valued their joint ventures more. But FAW managed to turn things around with Hongqi. The new CEO of FAW managed to revive a dead Hongqi and turn it into a mainstream brand by leveraging the history of the brand and Chinese patriotism. Now FAW has a luxury brand that sells around 1/5 of Audi, from almost nothing in 2017.

I wonder if we could see Dongfeng/BAIC recreate FAW's success with Hongqi.

BAIC could try to leverage its history with the BJ212 (which Mao used as a parade car) while Dongfeng could imitate the dragon styling of the Dongfeng CA71 (even though they didn't produce it).

Would be pretty amazing if they could become China's own BBA (BMW, Benz, Audi)

Sir he and other anti China pundits like Comrade Chang always have a ready excuse, they blame others and wash their hands because, they the Gov't don't listen and IF they do It isn't enough and need more...lol They been heralding the Collapse of China for 21 years and they still plotting ways to hasten China demise. Their Credibility should take a Hit BUT we're living in a woke world were failure is an option for promotion...lol

11 hours ago — The facility, based on a design proposed by Australian scientists, can simulate extreme flight conditions from 2.5 to 11.5 kilometres per second ...
It's like the A26 sub from Sweden, which was on PowerPoint only, and when the 039C sail was photographed they said "039C is a copy of A26"
