A chip company representative told the Global Times at the WAIC that China's gap with global chip giants is narrowing, with some products even displaying better performance. But in terms of software operating systems, Chinese companies still need time to catch up with foreign peers.
A confident, yet realistic statement. Not quick to declare victory when the work is not yet finish. This is the kinda statement that comes from people who knows what they are doing. Hence, I'm confident that China will eventually catch-up with the West in semi-conductors and software sooner than most people expects.

The West fails to understand that bans and restrictions don't work on China. It could work on spineless nations like Japan, Germany, Canada, etc. But bans don't work on China.

1) The PRC has been banned from the UN for 22 years. Eventually it got it's much deserved UN seat.

2) China was banned from further nuclear weapons development cooperation with the Soviet Union. Yet China managed to detonate its own hydrogen bomb in 1967.

3) China had been banned from importing arms from the Soviets and West. Yet China has built a military that is among the most modern in the world.

4) China was banned from the International Space Station. Yet China is gonna complete its own space station soon.

5) President Trump launched his trade war on China. Yet he and the US ultimately lost.

Let the arrogant haters doubt China's ability to catch up. They have been proven wrong on China many times. They will be proven wrong yet again.

LOL!

Urumqi, the 'prison' city vs New York City, the 'liberty' city.

For those who like to scream: "Give me freedom, or give me death!". Enjoy your 'freedom' in America. You've earned it.
Let them keep the name City of Liberty, but they shall not forget to rename some other stuff to their true meaning.
Ministry of Love, Ministry of Truth, Ministry of Life...nobody likes cherry pickers!
Dear Murican's please take the whole cake.

Well with China and Russia, it’s a two way street and both nations at the least are not likely to back stab each other but with Russia and the west, it’s always trying in any way possible to take their resources while giving nothing in return. With the way the west has treated Russia, Russia is permanently tired of having to deal with western stupidity and nothing is going to get the Russians to magically come back to a relationship that simply isn’t going to work. This article sounds like as though he is seriously trying to imagine a future where The west is magically going to get everything back when reality seems to point in the reverse

Aus going to augment it's decreasing workforce. This was already in the cards when we opened up, offering cheaper visas, extending length of stay etc.

The way Aus government treated the international students and backpackers during the start of pandemic, basically telling them they are on their own and better for them to f**k off, I expect not many interested to be back.

However, I suspect at this point, not many have long memories, even Chinese students are returning, despite the constant sinophobia. Saw many Chinese students buying home and university supplies recently.
