The apparent attempt on Kirchner’s life was caught on film by local news crews on Thursday night as the VP made her way through a bustling crowd near her residence, which gathered to show support amid an ongoing corruption trial.

A hand wielding a pistol is briefly seen in front of Kirchner, who quickly ducks out of the way following what appears to be a loud click. Some reports suggested the weapon misfired, but it’s unclear from the footage whether the person actually tried to pull the trigger.

An individual was arrested on the spot and a firearm was found by police several meters away, according to local media reports, which claimed the attacker is a 35-year-old Brazilian national. Officials have yet to confirm details about the perpetrator, however.

Argentina’s Clarin media outlet the man was carrying a .380 caliber pistol with a loaded magazine, while the Minister of Security Anibal Fernandez noted the suspect has a criminal history and was last arrested in March.

Cristina Kirchner needs much better security than that.

The news didn't use this photo but I feel it's got dat feel:

“Donald Trump and the MAGA Republicans represent an extremism that threatens the very foundations of our Republic”
Really missed an opportunity there by not following it up with:
"In order to ensure our security and continuing stability, the Republic will be reorganized into the first American Empire, for a safe and secure society"

This is Taiwan News so its credibility is medium but they are quoting a person here

Let's see what Aso Taro, the vice president of LDP, is saying:
"If a major problem took place in Taiwan, it would not be too much to say that it could relate to a survival-threatening situation (for Japan)"
As the article says, this guy said this last year too. He is saying this because he is trying to convince the Japanese people to higher military spending and a possible war. LDP is the only political force in Japan with actual power and most of its upper cadres are related to the elites of the Meiji era. We are talking about an oligarchy that has been in power for 150 years here. What these guys are saying is important.

What he is saying is of course wrong. Taiwan is not a part of Japan and Japan itself recognizes it as a part of China. But regardless of that, I would say it is near certain that Japan would join any American action against China. China needs a massive deterrence. The CPC needs to realize that the current status of Taiwan has become a massive problem for China and military deterrence is the only way forward. After this point the only things Dengist pacifism will lead to are loneliness and an independent Taiwan.
This is the same Taro Aso who said that the Fukushima waste water is safe to drink. Has he even drank it yet? I doubt that the regular Japanese people trusts this clown.

If Armed Reunification does happen, I'm quite sure that the US will not directly intervene. The US is one of the most cowardly nations on this planet. The US would not go to war with China directly over Taiwan. No matter how much some of its politicians and citizens want to. China for its part would deter the US, but would also stay away from provoking the US and its allies.

Unless I'm seriously underestimating the stupidity of the entire Japanese leadership, Japan would not directly intervene as well. The Japanese military top brass, and the National Diet should attempt to stop the LDP's drive to go to war with China. Nevertheless, I could still see Japan playing a similar role like Poland in the Russo-Ukraine conflict. Japan could accept the DPP escapees and Taiwanese refugees. Japan could act as a proxy for the US to attempt to provide military aid shipments to Taiwan. But doing so by sea compared to a land border is a whole different type of challenge. Very doubtful that it could be done, but I'm sure that the US and Japan will try. Japan could throw all kinds of sanctions and boycotts on China. But the economic costs will be disastrous for Japan too.
