What if China wanted Pelosi to land so it can controllably escalate the situation? Copium.
Why not? Liberal democracies always safeguard free speech. If things go kinetic as he implied do you think it would still be allowed to operate?
It's also not true that every family has huge house and 2-3 cars. That's seriously the most insidious US propaganda I've ever heard. It wasn't too long ago that it was kinda true, but since 2008 fewer and fewer get to enjoy that standard of living....are those 2-3 cars per family built in America? How much of that well cared for land is still arable, or will be in ten years time? America is not ready for a deglobalized world.

In 10 years? Prob still better than most other countries, while getting other countries to produce products for it on the cheap. World is not being deglobalized, just more bifurcated....are those 2-3 cars per family built in America? How much of that well cared for land is still arable, or will be in ten years time? But not freedom of narrative. Why not? Liberal democracies always safeguard free speech.
Perception. It shows Taiwan that China is confident enough in their military strength to violate Taiwanese airspace. It shows the domestic public that you will not be cowed even by Americans. It shows the international public that China is willing to be dangerous and reckless if their toes are trodden upon. It would have shown them that China isn't all bluster which, mark my words, will be the international takeaway from this if China does nothing else in this crisis.what is the point of interception if you are not going to stop Pelosi from visiting TW
A lesson for all on TW issue: Never believe anything CN gov or state media say until it happensI mean, that does appear to be a thing with the PRC. For all of the things they do very competently and effectively, like developing technology and managing their country, they seem to be really, really bad at PR. It certainly is that way from the outwards-facing arms of the Chinese state-funded press, and it appears to also be an issue with the domestic press.
If they didn't intend to interdict the plane, the messaging to the Chinese populous should have been much more clear. Now they have a population that had been hyped up for war, at least if the internet is any indication, and now they're left without a place to place their frustrations.
Those "other countries to produce products for it on the cheap" don't have the infrastructure or energy to do it. There are many talks about "replacing China" for the last decade, but so far NOTHING substantial has been done.In 10 years? Prob still better than most other countries, while getting other countries to produce products for it on the cheap. World is not being deglobalized, just more bifurcated.
