Because there was no peaceful intercept, this necessitates now a much more rigorous response to salvage the situation.

I am repeating. China never pledged to do anything to Pelosi's aircraft. It is far far too early to make an analysis. PLA Eastern Theatre Command announces a series of joint air-naval military operations commencing 8/2 (i.e. tonight) in the north, southeast, and southwest regions off Taiwan. These include live-fire drills, combined arms exercises, and also missile launch drills east of Taiwan.

What stood out to me was the use of the term military operations (军事行动) rather than exercises, even though the rest of the post is only describing exercises.

No attempted interception shows low readiness of the PLAAF. They were not prepared for the path her plane took. If they anticipated passing over the SCS, or going down north from Japan, which is what it looked like with the CBG deployments, then they have failed.

Going from east side of Taiwan was more difficult but what should have happened were fighters in the air with refuelers nearby covering the entry path.

This is a major humiliation for the PLA. It shows that either morale or readiness is at a bottom.

Nope, I don't think we can 100% make such conclusions yet.

Might it be the case? Yes, or maybe not.

What's more we still don't really know what happened in the skies about Taiwan or around it.

ROC airplanes could have been shot down and we might not know it, that possibility exist, although probably small since some people should have been able to take some videos?

This is still a long game. The losers so far in China has been the Tibetan separatist, XJ separatist, Hong Kong separatist, 6-4 separatist. Everyone of them that have supported by Nancy in her anti-china antics the past 40 years are dead, in jail, re-educated or exiled (and still complaining this day).
