Rude and ridiculous new members. Ban hammer. Lots of personal attacks being thrown around.

Can't tell if trolls hypernationalists on a coping vent or whatever mix. Pelosi landing was always happening if the US permitted it and Pelosi wanted to go through with it. The consequences of this if any remain to be seen. Hu Xijin is worthy of his past ridicule and even more so now with his blundering big talk that is unless military consequences follow through. If they don't follow through, it would appear Xi's third term as president is doubtful.

Am an Indian and not her follower or anything. Two points. She is bold and gutsy, no doubt about it. Second as I said in my earliest post, China is no where ready to take on the US militarily.

The Chinese posters here are generally quite arrogant, and forget that the US has been numero uno since 1945. And the pronouncements by the Chinese official spokespersons only made things worse. It will take time to reach a truly multi-polar world.

For those like me sitting out and watching, it was a nice, tense, entertaining drama. And the best thing about it, no lives were lost.
Numero uno with a terrible war record recently. The arrogance of the West or US thinking that landing a government delegate on Taiwan will somehow show China who is boss? Don't cry and moan about the consequences.

What’s disappointing is that the national media implicitly let the citizens and social media users stir up a frenzy only to let it fizzle. If the CCP had a calm, calculated response, why bother getting on this horse?
Yes this is what made it so big in the first place. If they wanted it to be peaceful, don't issue warnings and threats or put a massive parade for nothing. Now its humiliating for china and westerns/anti chinese countries will make fun of them for that, Rightfully so.

It might be an interesting week after all.

There's more.

PLA Eastern Theatre Command announces a series of joint air-naval military operations commencing 8/2 (i.e. tonight) in the north, southeast, and southwest regions off Taiwan. These include live-fire drills, combined arms exercises, and also missile launch drills east of Taiwan.

What stood out to me was the use of the term military operations (军事行动) rather than exercises, even though the rest of the post is only describing exercises.

A military response by China would need to be all or nothing with respect to Taiwan because the US is itching to interfere at any opportunity. If China escorted the plane within Taiwan’s airspace then China needed to be ready for a full scale war.

China simply didn’t have enough time to prepare for a full war on such a short notice at a time of US’ choosing. Now let’s see the Chinese response in the following days and weeks.
