Those are just exercise drills, not an invasion... They are just meant to signal "yeah, we are training to one day to fight"

The framing and timing of it just makes it seems like China was bluffing when they threatened "serious action" for the nth time, now that the US called China's bluff, even if it was genuinely a unrelated exercise, it'll just seem like China was playing it up.
