This is also why the risks of a military response are >50%. Between serious internal division and making a military response, CPC is, 10 times out of 10, choosing military response.

Nah, brinkmanship doesn't work that way. If you're going to whip it out, be prepared to use it.
This is a question to both of you and voyager, but to you especially @plawolf: Since "the people" are so amped up and ready for war, are "the people" prepared to tighten their belts to fund the military buildup necessary to bring victory closer? 5% of GDP on defense? 10-15%?

I don’t expect either Chinese carriers to go near Taiwan just yet because they are not needed there.
Instead I think the PLAN carriers are on the move because they don’t want to be tied up at port should the ballon go up, as that would make them sitting ducks and prime targets for an US alpha strike.
If the Liaoning is not at sea already, I expect her to be underway shortly as well as basically every capital ship that can be underway within the PLAN for the same reasons.

Xi isn't going to shoot her down and isn't going to take China to war over this visit. He's not that insane. That's my prediction.
