IndoPaCom should use mine warfare in the Pearl River and Yellow Sea during a conflict with China. Finding a way to bring China into diplomatic negotiations on favorable terms to the United States is the goal, and offensive mine warfare can help achieve it.

Do it. I look forward to future vacations by visitors at the United States Pacific Fleet Reef.

Any mine laying, surely accidental of course and definitely not an act of war, will result in a peaceful special military operation to remove derelict mines and the source of new mines, permanently.

This was unthinkable merely a decade ago. It used to be the PLA that plans for wars this way.

When the politicians of your archrival scream nuclear revenge for potentially sinking their ACs, when their war planners advocate "unconventional tactics" like this, you know they have started worrying about defeat. And you know your force buildup is on the right course.

They could mine the Yellow Sea since it’s a big place and not entirely in China. However, the Pearl River Delta? I don’t see what capabilities they have to mine the delta shut without China responding to them forcefully. It seems like this Navy Commander doesn’t think China will response to the US laying mines right off of China.

Turkey supports Finnish and Swedish membership of NATO

Statement by President Niinistö: Turkey supports the invitation of Finland and Sweden to join NATO

President of the Republic Sauli Niinistö has published his statement following the meeting between Finland, Sweden and Turkey. HS publishes the statement in full:

"Today in Madrid, before the start of the NATO Summit, we had an in-depth meeting with Turkish President Recep Tayyip Erdoğan and Swedish Prime Minister Magdalena Andersson, supported by NATO Secretary General Jens Stoltenberg.

As a result of that meeting, our Foreign Ministers signed a Memorandum of Understanding between our countries confirming Turkey's support for the invitation of Finland and Sweden to join NATO at this week's Madrid Summit. The concrete steps for our accession to NATO will be agreed among NATO allies in the next two days, but that decision is now imminent.

Our Memorandum of Understanding underlines the commitment of Finland, Sweden and Turkey to give each other their full support against threats to their respective security. When we become NATO allies, this commitment will be further strengthened.

In recent weeks, Turkey has raised its concerns about the threat of terrorism. Finland has always taken these concerns seriously. Finland condemns terrorism in all its manifestations. As a NATO member, Finland is fully committed to NATO's counter-terrorism documents and policies.

As we develop our cooperation on counter-terrorism, arms exports and transfers, Finland will of course continue to act in accordance with its own national legislation.

I am delighted that this stage in Finland's journey towards NATO membership has been completed. I now look forward to fruitful discussions on Finland's role in NATO with our future allies here in Madrid."

The only possible scenario I see them succeeding is if they boarded civilian ships or used their secret courts to order civilian ships to be equipped with mines and drop a bunch of mines in the River Delta while they are been disguised as purely civilian ships going to a Chinese port for "commercial" reasons.

Given the state of the US right now, evidently watching all those Marvel movies have finally taught DARPA how to make a working time machine and they've flung themselves back into the 1800s to the days where they could sail all the way up the delta to Guangzhou and all the opposition they'd expect would be some wooden junks.
