A rocket delivery system for UAVs has been tested recently and was a success. The rocket carrying the UAV first flew to a pre-designated area, then the UAV separated from the rocket at a speed of mach 0.70. After deceleration by parachute, the winged UAV then flew on its own power. The purpose of the rocket delivery system is to more rapidly deploy UAVs when other means of are deemed too slow, such as airdropping UAVs from a plane or having the UAVs fly directly to the destination.

  本报讯 近日,随着一束长长的火焰迎着朝阳快速飞向空中,某型火箭搭载着无人飞行器以接近0.7马赫的速度在预定区域和高度完成舱箭分离、开伞减速和舱体调姿等动作后,所搭载的无人飞行器顺利弹射出舱和展翼飞行,代表某型火箭搭载系统靶场飞行试验取得圆满成功。
  据设计单位航空工业航宇技术人员介绍,为实现无人飞行器远距离快速抵近,在远距离自起飞或常规飞机搭载空投的基础上,在国内首次创新提出了利用火箭搭载无人飞行器实施快速抵达和空中投放的新思路,通过火工动力集成设计技术、伞降稳定减速技术、程序控制技术和飞行试验测试技术等的综合应用,突破了火箭尾翼式稳定装置设计、活塞式薄壁连接舱箭分离、减速伞一体化包装及分段调姿减速等关键技术,研制出了一种高效、高可靠性和低成本的火箭搭载系统。
  据悉,该火箭搭载系统的研制成功,实现了无人飞行器的快速部署,可广泛应用于警用、城市管理、农业、地质、气象、电力、抢险救灾等领域,而且能大大提升航空产品的空中试验能力。 (王文凯 柯望兴

I think he's referring to a coaxial helicopter UAV from AVIC Beijing.

Interestingly enough, China Shipbuilding Industry Corporation (CSIC) has a similar UAV called HK-20Z with almost identical specs. I wonder if TD-11 and HK-20Z are the same product.

CH-817 Micro UCAV:
- Weight: 850g
- Max speed: 18m/s
- Endurance: 15min
- Co-axial rotor, VTOL capability
- Intended targets are armed individuals (i.e. soldiers, terrorists)
- Built-in obstacle avoidance
- Can be deployed by individual soldiers or larger UAVs
- Capable of cooperative swarm tactics. A CH-817 swarm can be deployed by a larger UAV. A swarm can then conduct wide area surveillance and precision strikes against individual targets.

Yet another company offering similar VTOL coaxial UAVs (hung from the ceiling in the image below). OMG, these are quickly becoming 'cabbages'. o_O

Yet another co-axial VTOL micro-UAV, one that I haven't seen before. These flying thermoses of death are proliferating quickly.
