Yamal pipeline has mostly been operating in reverse flow from Germany to Poland anyways. The Germans can get Russian gas from Transgas or NordStream pipeline and send it to Poland. If they have any spare to send. But so much for the German plan to "become independent" of Russian gas by filling their gas storage until Fall and expectation that Russia will collapse from Europe not buying gas from Russia until Spring comes. Yep. Great plan Germans. Not that it would ever work but. But with the southern Ukrainian pipeline and now Yamal pipeline shut down even the prospect of filling the storage until then becomes ever more of a mirage.

From what I understand the Polish gas operator got sanctioned by the Russian government this week after Poland confiscated a Polish gas distribution company owned by Russian gas company Novatek. Since the Polish gas operator partly owns the Yamal pipeline segment over Poland now Gazprom can't sell gas through it anymore or make gas transit payments to said Polish operator. Good job Poles.

Poland basically sanctioned Novatek, preventing them from getting gas to deliver to customers, then seized their assets claiming they were failing their contract, and essentially gave their assets to the Polish gas operator. Bye bye Poland.
I was hearing Richard medhurst covering this with regards to Poland and Bulgaria. He seem to think Bulgaria is screwed but Poland can get away with importing Russian gas cuz they have a terminal and gas from Norway so they are a special case. Is that correct?

There was a tweet showing the various headlines of reports by western papers. It was so obvious how they try their darnest to avoid using the words israel, kill and deliberate, in the title. Quite incredulous to see it so blatantly. If this was Ukraine journalist by Russian it would be totally different treatment

It just shows how much influence Israel has over the US regardless of political party. Seriously, they hold them over their balls. Plus Biden calls himself a Zionist. They complain about meh Russian bots yet they let Israel plays with them like a puppet.

Aha

The author, who is an Indian apparently, wrote a very convoluted and confusing piece to defend India's stance on Russia-Ukraine conflict in front of the West. He knows India would be under tremendous pressure from the West if it simply argues from the standpoint of its own national interest such as arms trade and cheap energy deals and strategic independence. Instead, it appeals to the US/West's base fear and antagonism against China, with a very far-fetched and roundabout logic that it would need to stand with Russia in order to be against China.

Now, this is a tried-and-true excuse and tactic for India: blaming China. In 1998 when India conducted five nuclear tests and faced the condemnation and pressure from the US/West and the international community, then Indian Prime Minister Atal Bihari Vajpayee wrote a letter to the then US President Bill Clinton to justify its nuclear tests because "We have an overt nuclear weapon state on our borders, a state which committed armed aggression against India in 1962. "

Poland has their gas storage almost full. They have an LNG terminal, and they will have a gas pipeline from Norway later this year supposedly.
But the thing is, the pipeline from Norway, is basically a tap on the pipeline from Norway to Germany. So they will be siphoning gas which would have gone to Germany basically. Robbing Peter to pay Paul. So, sure, Poland will supposedly become energy independent from Russia in terms of gas late this year. But at the cost of screwing Germany over on that front basically. And they will still have more expensive gas than they have today. Then there are the elephants in the room. Like the oil refinery the Poles have which refines Russian pipeline oil. Or the coal they import from Russia to generate electricity with.

Sure the Poles could import everything by sea, but that will require facilities and be more expensive. If the oil and LNG don't turn out to be Russian oil and LNG with a different label and forged origin papers anyway. I mean, like I said here before, would not be the first time "Norwegian LNG" turned out to be Russian one from Yamal. Norway can only produce so much gas and their production hasn't massively increased over the past decade and shouldn't increase next decade either.

Bulgaria has their gas storage near empty and decided to play Russian roulette by not paying for gas in rubles. They will supposedly get a pipeline to a hub in Greece later this year. The Greek hub supposedly has connections to an LNG terminal (already booked) and the TAP pipeline (gas already sold). The connection is supposed to happen after the storage will be empty. So, yeah, they are really in the dumps.
Then again the Bulgarian Prime Minister is an obvious US transplant, degrees from Canada and US with Canadian citizenship, so what else should be expected.

in January, after consuming nearly 40% of global pork imports in 2021.

“Its new restrictions were not about inflation but about plummeting pork prices that threatened the livelihoods of its farmers,” the report by PIIE senior fellow Chad Bown and research analyst Yilin Wang said.
Bad China, you are eating too much not enough pork!
