There is no difference to steam catapults.
I thought EMALS launch rate is higher than steam catapults?

But yes, not needing to refuel the carrier for its own propulsion is a major benefit
The carrier itself can refuel his escorts. There are some pictures in the internet doing this.
I get it now, the difference between conventional and nuclear is like skip jump launch vs catapults launch.
In terms of combat capability, almost like 1 nuclear = 1.5 to 2 conventional ones.

In your question you asked against the wind.

In your question you asked against the wind.
but he/she didn't answer the orignial question.
My understanding is wind speed is more important for skip-jump, not so much for catapults launch.
Steam catapults might need higher wind speed to compensate for lower steam pressure caused by rapid launch.

Steam catapult system concumpts huge amount of steam and the remaining steam limited the speed of the ship under certain conditions, such as continuous launch operation. The disclosed energy efficiency of EM catapult system is higher than that of the steam catapult system. Therefore the power left on the 003 is enough or not to keep going at high speed continuously, it will tell.

The chinese article depicts some specific numbers about EM cat. tests already done and that will be implemented in the future sea trials.
Dont know its true or false. Translation below FYI.

"In fact, the construction of 004 can be started a long time ago; because the safe ejection and recovery tests on land has been recorded more than 5 digits, and multiple heavy-fighters have ejected to the maximum life of the fuselage, and the total failure rate is amazingly zero! However, 004 construction will not start until 003 has completed more than 4-digit ejection and recovery tests in the actual marine environment. This kind of prudence is unique in the world."

Apparantly 004 is only gonna be laid down after 003 performs 4 digit launches with its emal? (and more than 10000+ launches have already been done at the landbased emals test site?)
Although this is just from a weibo post, so a pinch of salt definitely has to be taken.

Absolutely. The so-called zero total failure rate is in particular unbelivable.

I remember an General of PLANF had semi-officially claim that their EM cat. is much better than that on the US Navy a few years ago. The figure he mentioned is hundreds to thousand times of test have been done, and no failure at all.

If what he claimed before at the early stage was true, and the figures of the weibo article above is also true, it is very very impressive for a whole new system that can perform such kind of stablility.

More than a pinch of salt, in fact, it shouldn't be taken seriously at all.
