Kozyrev should know all about corruption having been a minister in Yeltsin's government together with his buddies Chubais and Gaidar.

As for casualty reports I think it is way too early to get accurate figures. And you won't be getting an accurate figure from people who aren't even there.

Correct. NATO, however, are very much *there*.

Russian dead so far 7-9k (European estimate) or 5-6k (US estimate):

Those seeking to debunk these figures might consider exactly how many ELINT/SIGINT/IMINT/HUMINT assets (i) NATO; and (ii) they as an individual; have in the Ukraine region.
Ukraine has no military capacity to inflict anywhere near those numbers, stop deluding yourself. The Ukrainian army isn't getting 20-1 K/D without an airforce against an army with one. At this point I'm seeing very little evidence of Ukraine tanks and armoured vehicles remaining.

Trying to use NATO intelligence a call to authority is ludicrous as i) they're full of shit liars, ii) their intelligence is shit. US intelligence were the same guys who told us the Afghan national army had 300,000 soldiers right up until they didn't, and that the Indians killed 30 Chinese soldiers in Galwan.

As I've said multiple times, in this day and age countries don't tend to lie about their military losses, even authoritarian ones like Aliyev. They either keep quiet about it, or they exaggerate the number of enemies killed to make themselves look better.

If those number were even close to true, Kiev would already be a car park.

He thinks you can count troop casualties with ELINT. Even if they could decrypt the communications to central army command I doubt even they have proper numbers with the war being in a state of flux. Also the further up you go the chain of command the more encryption the Russian army should use. All armies are like that.

Why is there a difference between the US estimate and the European one?
Don't know, maybe different methodologies and/or sources?

Anyway, well done Russia for matching US fatality rates in 20 years of fighting in Iraq and Afghanistan in less than 2 weeks!

Seems a lot of the money that was supposed to go to military modernization in Russia was actually lost through corruption. Which would explain the woeful state of a lot of Russian Army kit. At least according to a former Russian Foreign Minister. Worth reading the whole thread:

Andrei Kozyrev, like Kasparov, is the kind of poster boy the Western agitprops use in their desperate need for approval of their wacky theories by "good Russians". Kinda like Gordon Chang in the case of China.
