The ballistic missile attack apparently were result of Lieutenant General Yuriy Sodol being killed by Azov troops while he went to argue with them because they were disregarding orders. I thought weather or not this story is informational warfare, we should be able to tell something by how the Ukrainian side respond to this. Currently their response is:
Surely to dispel the rumour the easy thing to do would be to call him up and have him say something, ala what Kadyrov did when he recorded himself called up Tushayev to prove he was fine. Yet instead the Ukrainians choose to do a rather blend propaganda piece which gives credience to the whole Azov Battalion story.
