I commented previously on the supposed difficulties the Russian navy is having with Chinese diesel engines, despite the fact that Chinese marine diesels do just fine on PLAN warships. As a DF-41 TEL shows, Chinese tires work just fine handling heavy loads. Between this and the diesels, it appears that the Russian military's procurement from China consists entirely of going on Alibaba and buying the cheapest thing they can find.

The whole western airline industry is under threat, even with just the flight restrictions. Have you seen the convuluted flight paths some airlines have to make going to Asia? That's got to be a 20% fuel premium. While Asian airlines are flying pretty much normal routes. Anyone flying Asia-Europe cargo flights is in big trouble.

There are unconfirmed reports that claim Russian naval forces were forcing the ship to act as a shield against anti-ship weapons.

Bangladeshi vessel “Banglar Samriddhi” was struck by an anti-ship missile today while anchored off the port of Oktyabrsk; the ship was allegedly hit by Russian anti-ship missiles.

Since the beginning of the conflict this has been the sixth and seventh commercial vessel that’s been hit by a weapons systems; the Ukrainians hit a Russian flagged cargo vessel while the Russians have attacked Moldovan, Turkish, Romanian, Estonian, and Japanese commercial vessels, seizing an additional two Ukrainian flagged ships earlier this week.

They learnt from the best. The Mongols.

Their current plan is to pull China into this as much as they can. They've lost all interest in defending the Ukraine. They will continue supplying AT missiles and stingers as Russia appears to tolerate it for now, as well as the continuous TB2 attacks from Poland. But that's it.
Dragging China into this and getting some sort of united European action against China is the only American win I can see left on the table.

Without wading too far into the political, I do think this is true.

2. China, rationale: "did not call it an invasion, bought wheat"
By that logic, due to the trade deficit, USA is China's biggest ally!

- China knew about the invasion
Based on everyone's favorite... 'unnamed sources'...

- China told Putin to wait after the Olympics
Same as above. Bonus points for making Russia sound like a dog.

If you ask me, the issue is not to pull China into it (unless you do something like a Belgrade Embassy attack), but I think they are just taking advantage of the situation by doing some old fashioned image tarnishing

Odessa seems to be establishing a formidable defense network as a large force of Russian landing ships loiters off the coast.

They’ve undoubtedly had an advantage in being able to organize more effectively than other cities that were caught off guard by the initial invasion, allowing the city to be further reinforced with military forces since they’ve been relatively left alone since the beginning of the Russian invasion.

Only time will see however it’s likely they’ll be able to brunt the force of an initial landing force given Ukrainian forces most likely out number any marine landing force present in the Russian flotilla.

For reference the landing force assembled is most likely comprised of [1500-2000] naval infantry with a compliment of at-least a dozen armored vehicles. Russian landing ships can provide limited fire support however that may put them at risk to Ukrainian coastal defense batteries; assuming if any are still operational.

Its probably why the navy didn't use a lot of their ammunitions against other Ukraine targets, they are probably keepîng them for Odessa. They will flatten the place to the ground... Russia forces will remove the gloves big time. Sad stuff.

It’s great to see that most of the thread’s quality contributors have returned. Hopefully Suetham will pop-up soon and the A-Team will be back together. Also, it seems that some bans have been lifted. So, who knows, we might even hear from Yong Pen Suen!

Watch WW2 Eastern Front day by day map videos. Both Germany and Russia are true believers in big encirclement strategies where they'll take a huge encirclement and fight a kessel battle. This is their historical way of fighting.

Russia and Ukraine agree on civilian humanitarian corridors​

During the second round of talks in Belarus on Thursday, Moscow and Kiev agreed on mechanisms to establish routes via which to evacuate civilians from combat zones in Ukraine.

“The parties have reached an understanding on the joint establishment of humanitarian corridors with a temporary ceasefire. Russia and Ukraine will soon create channels of communication and cooperation to organize these corridors,” Ukrainian presidential aide Mikhail Podolyak said.

The head of the Russian delegation, Vladimir Medinsky confirmed the development, stating that the two sides had solved the “main issue” of saving the lives of civilians. The negotiators also found common ground on other outstanding matters, namely military and humanitarian issues, and future political reconciliation, he added.

The Ukrainian side said it had not achieved the results it had been expecting from the negotiations, however. The next round of talks is expected to be held in the near future, it added, without elaborating on the time or location.

News or new videos on the war has seem to decreased in the last couple of days.

Doesn’t look like Russia plans to assault Kiev yet. Possible that they are simply building up logistics as they wait for exodus of civilians.

Actually, US is a pro-Russia because it's largest trading partner is China - who is also a Russia's largest trading partner - so we (USA) must sanction China and de-couple to avoid US money flowing into Russia via China.

This is some logic from Batshit Insane Republicans on Twitter and Fox. They will twist anything to make China seem like an Imperialist even though China is dead silent and just watching with popcorns on the sideline.
