I think King's Avatar is a good example of a program (rather than game) that is unapologetically Chinese in both style and theme. For example, e-sports is 100% unknown in Japan but thriving in China.

I think in terms of gaming, I actually like the western style games more than the Japanese anime games.

For example 暗黑森林 (Dark Forest)is a really good Stellaris/Sins of a Solar Empire style space RTS/4X that deserves alot more recognition.

"Dyson Sphere Program" is also an awesome scifi game.
I love Dyson Sphere Program and I always use it as example of successful Chinese cultural export. Last year during CPC 100 year anniversary when the concentrated solar power at Dunhuang did the thing where they made their mirror dance and flash the hammer and sickle symbol people were like "woah shit, you guys also made Dyson Sphere Program, you're serious about that Dyson sphere tech?"

The game is literately making people associate concented solar power and dyson sphere with China.

This is what I'm trying to say. When people play Genshin Impact, first impressions would be that it's 'Japanese' with all the anime art styles, same thing with Dyson Sphere Program, they would think it's a Western game too.

What I'm trying to argue is that Chinese devs should be more confident about themselves to find a unique style that people can associate with China.

It's equally valid that you go into a genre and do such a good job that in the future the genre is associated with you, instead of who originally came up with the idea. (hence: 拿来吧你)

A good recent example of this is Squid Game. That sort of thing came from Japan originally but South Korea made a really digestible TV show and now it's associated with them.

in fairness, for computer games there are established styles at this point dictated by firstcomers advantage. The only way to dislodge it is by making the old uncompetitive.

Even South Korea has trouble in new games and it's not for lack of trying. Koreans are more famous for being good at western games, than making their own.

Remember this from last week?

Well sure enough we got a response from Baerbock:

Basically she said as long as China still sanctions Europe Parliament members CAI is still off the table.
I'm sensing much more anti-corruption investigations in her future if you know what I mean.
