Why? 1950s planes didn’t need bigger windows?

based on what we know, which attribute of the base E-2 plan is more 1950s than the KJ-600?

Not as much.

The idea back then was that cameras and instruments could slowly replace the traditional windows and there was the technological limitations of making durable, large window panes that could be shaped aerodynamicaly while also being light enough. Plus the only experience they had to draw ideas from being the E-1 Tracers/Trackers/Traders.

Compare it with the Yak-44's rather large windows and a far angled down nose to improve visibility. It is only logical that the KJ-600 will expand upon these concepts and far better materials available.

Such Frisbee-like radar antenna housings usually generate as much lift as they weigh themselves.

It makes the handling of the aircraft tricky. As it rotates, the disk constantly changes the center of gravity of the aircraft, so it is best designed that the disk must have an equal weight distribution on both sides, which is done through the design of the sensors within, whether its radar or ESM.
