I'm hoping that in a 10-15 year timeframe, no direct Chinese intervention will be required.

In any case, back to the J-10 topic, I'm curious as to what the "P" designation might mean?

If it's not a standard "C", then what "P" specific mods might it have?

Also, what are the chances that standard PL-15s may be part of the deal instead of the "E" variant without dual pulse?

P is for Pakistan. And yes, the PL-15s exported to Pakistan are rumored to be the same ones used by PLAAF, not PL-15E.

Technically you can do that but the CR is gonna be quite small. Theres a saying if China export something they have an updated version of it. Its been rumoured that J-10D will feature CFT to free up valuable spaces (inner pylons) to carry AAM.

That may not be as big of a problem for Pakistan than it is for China since their bases are a lot closer to potential flashpoints.

Typically in a strike package, fighters in one flight will be fitted with two A2S for strike and two short range A2A missiles for self defence; fighters in the other flight will be fitted with two short range and four long range A2A against aerial threats.

On J10, i saw one prototype at least with wing tip pylons but it never went into production. Also, the ventral pylons cannot be used for munition, only targeting or EW pods i think.
