From what I have heard, the Chinese company sat on the licence for years and didn't start any mining activities

As such, Greenland is rightly stripping the mining license, and will give it to a company which actually wants to mine and bring money to the governement

The licence was withdrawn because of inactivity at the site, the government said in a statement, adding it will be offered to new interested companies once it has formally been handed back.
The company also failed to make the agreed guarantee payments, it said. "We cannot accept that a licence-holder repeatedly fails to meet agreed deadlines," Greenland's Resources Minister Naaja Nathanielsen said.
Deserved

Ah, Reuters being Reuters again. They can not report a thing without political signaling.

"dealing a blow to attempts by Chinese companies to gain a foothold on the resource-rich Arctic island."

Few sentences later...

I am more surprised that China still believes on anything the US says than the US breaking its promises
China is just playing alone to:
  1. Buy more time before a full blown confrontation.
  2. To send a message to the puppets of US that "US and China may settle something at the expense of the US puppets at any moment". Examples are:
    1. Australia's export quota for US.
    2. India's coal powered economy being restricted by China, US and EU's market access. Three markets that nobody can find alternatives.
I don't think China's leadership believed any word from American leadership for a fraction of a second.

What the western media and their 3rd world loud-hailers always do is:
China and Chinese companies abroad must be perfectly according to their standard. Anything less than their expectation makes China and Chinese evil. The "right" to have some bad behaviours and making honest mistakes belongs solely to the west. For the same wrong or "wrong", China must be educated, China's government must be held responsible to teach Chinese how to be a western good boy. Otherwise, everybody will dislike China. Then some self-claimed Chinese and 3rd world people will try to persuade China to join the club of "good boy".

Lithuania is showing the world a way to resist China's growing pressure by diversifying supply chains and uniting with fellow democracies, the EU nation's foreign minister said Wednesday.

One of the smallest EU nations, Lithuania has been punching above its weight diplomatically by letting Taiwan open an office in its own name and, separately, welcoming the opposition from neighboring Belarus which says it won last year's election.

On a visit to Washington, Foreign Minister Gabrielius Landsbergis said he spoke to senior US officials on Lithuania's efforts to reduce reliance on China for supplies and called for longer-term efforts to help other nations facing pressure.

"I think that the biggest lesson out of Lithuania is that economic coercion does not necessarily mean that the country needs to step away from independent foreign policy decisions,"...

WASHINGTON (Reuters) - Lithuania will adapt to "short-term" economic pain dealt by China over its moves to enhance ties with Taiwan, foreign minister Gabrielius Landsbergis said on Wednesday, while urging Europe to brace against Beijing's economic "coercion" by getting more involved in the Indo-Pacific.

China downgraded diplomatic ties with Lithuania on Sunday over the Baltic country's move to allow self-ruled Taiwan to open a de facto embassy there. Lithuania has formal relations with China and not Taiwan.

Beijing views democratically-governed Taiwan as a province, and Lithuanian officials say China has also sought to inflict pain such as cutting trade links in retaliation for its decision...

--->It seems that this US vassal/satellite state in Europe has placed its bets on its Neocon/Neolib overlords in Washington DC.

What will China do ?
