Woah buddy. I don't disagree that Russia is a friend of China, but we are talking about formal treaty alliance, which is very different from just being friends or strategic partners or a circle-jerk.

Looking way too much at history? China does 10X more trade with US than it does with Russia. The reality is, "anti-Americanism" won't result in a Sino-Russian alliance against US or NATO.

Also, I am a Chinese nationalist who distinctly remembers the Tsarist Russian annexation of Qing Chinese territory, imposition of Unequal Treaties, and treating China like an subordinate junior partner during Korean War. If you conveniently brush aside history, you are doomed to repeat the same mistake again in the future. China should never pursue a formal treaty alliance with Russia.
Tsarist actions were motivated by it's contest against the British and German squeezed against her interests, the crimean war as one key example. The Qing's bumbling and self destructive actions were of it's own making. The neglect of the western frontier virtually left Xinjiang undefended from Russian incursions and geopolitical machinations virtually giving birth to the idea that Xinjiang/Uyghur = East Turkmenistan. I am not going to place all the blame unto the Russians for acting like any other would be colonial power. The Qing was simply littered with idiots and sycophants not to mention rudderless ministers and emperors that in my opinion deserve the thrashing it received.

Like you said, there are not eternal friendships, only eternal interests.

During the Qing dynasty, Russia was looking to expand eastward, therefore there were conflicts with China. More significantly, the Soviet Union was trying to establish hegemony over China, hence the split.

Today, Russia is looking westward, more specifically the West poses the greatest existential threat to Russia today. Therefore, China and Russia have aligned interests and many fruitful areas of cooperation.

China has no interest in a formal alliance with Russia, that's just something people who mistake allies for power like to dream about. In reality, allies are not always assets. Allies can often end up as liabilities.

I wouldn't be shocked if Biden offered the French more hands on control of NATO and even more control of American military assets in Western Europe to appease the French.
Until we hear more of it, the only thing I see here is France losing $90Bln, throwing a tantrum, Macaroon getting a call by Biden, and then Little Napoleon waving a glorious white flag.

So Biden saying "Implicitly recognising FR/EU rile in IndoPacific" and other nice diplomatic words makes up for France losing a $90Bln contract?

Geez.. Biden must be having his time of the life right now. Imagine stealing an almost 3-digits billion contract and then "suffering" the consequences of speaking by phone to Macaroon

Good business for the US and lol at anyone believing its promises

Thanks for link.

It seems that there is a lot of spinning on this news rn.

I have checked some other media as well and say the same thing (France US "friends again") however, they all avoid to go into some detail on what has been discussed. This might be proof that the tweet you posted could be correct about Macron saying that

Lets see how things will look in a few hours. Need more time to check other tweets from various people on this matter
