What's there to annex? Annex means it wasn't yours to begin with. Nobody is going to set up a settlement on Diaoyu Island, but Chinese maritime law enforcement is effectively controlling the neighboring waters. This is a unilateral change of status quo, and Japan can't do jack about it.
Look, the islands were de facto under control of Japan. This is a fact. Clearly, using the word annex in this context would mean at the very least gaining operational control of the island.
I was clearly responding to a person you hold a similar opinion to, HE used the word annex, which I bolded and even quoted in my response.
Again, I'm happy to see China gain control of the island, or even just more solid proof that they refused the Japanese entry, but until then I am reserving judgement.
We always get snippets like these, hundreds at at time, that never end up amounting to shit. People always hop on with confidence, then pretend like they never did as time goes by. We'll see.
