These days when the US calls up for an alliance against China, it's really about controlling US allies' business and trade ties with China. The US isn't going spend the money to be the alternative to China as a customer in the international arena so they have to trap them into alliances to prevent them from selling to China so they don't have to spend the money it would take replace China as a customer.

They are not saying anything because otherwise this is a perfect case that should have been covered under US-Japan Security Treaty article 5. If Diaoyu Islands really are Japanese territory than since China have annexed it surely the US needs to do something or that security treaty is not worth the paper its written on.

Once you realise this then it's only a tiny leap to apply the same logic to US vaguely saying they will defend Taiwan, only in this case there isn't any paper signed at all.

Lol come on, if it was true that China "annexed" islands that have been under the control of the Japanese a few days ago, SOMEONE would have said something.

It could have been some US right-wing organization trying to destroy Biden's credibility, or a left-wing one a la Greenwald who likes to prove how evil and manipulative the US government is.

The fact that literally no one is reporting on it, from China, from anyone in all of Europe or Japan or Korea or India (and you know they'd be whining forever about it even if just a rumor) or the US from any side of the political spectrum, and the only source is a social media post, you do the math...

Except of course if there *is* some reporting and we just missed it, and maybe that reporting is just being brushed under the rug and not gaining lots of mainstream attention (like for example when Americans murdered dozens if not hundreds of Afghans at Kabul as either revenge or due to trigger-fingers, which you really have to look for to find that news) then that could in fact be true.

Otherwise what are you relying on? Why is everyone acting so confident that China did in fact annex the islands if you guys are willingly admitting there is no source for this? Does that mean the only source is the social media posts?

A Japanese media outlet reported the Chinese coast guard ship hitting the Japanese one via publishing a video of the entire situation. It happened on August 30th and was kept under wraps for a while. I linked the video in my previous post:
Here is the link to a Weibo post that has the video with the footage of the situation:

Absolutely
You know the anglo whites can't compete when they have to enforce and pressure countries into an Iron Curtain style captive market for their inefficient companies and businesses.
Whatever happened to Free Trade eh?
Appears the anglo led west really believe in white supremacy uber alles, even over Free Trade.
Remember that next time a white westerner makes a big deal out of 'values' and 'freedom', it's code for white supremacy.

In most cases, those who are doing the talking, they are talking out of stupidity.

This is what I have read. Apparently people generally do not understand economics. On this forum, that sleepy poster is a good example.

The other topic people generally do not understand is technology. Why? Technology is complicated. People are not interested in reading the specs, engineering, alloys, reading the manual blah blah blah. Blah blah blah. Even this post is getting boring quick.

Military matters, people will believe what they are told, and that for Westerns is USA #1, even when they run away from Afghanistan.

If we have some working knowledge about those topics, maybe we can formulate an opinion. Opinions based on stupidity, are not really opinions. Stupidity is not an opinion. Stupidity is stupidity.

Regarding China, 90% of people in the west will believe what Gordon Chang tells them to believe.

His disciples are working on the rest.

What chance do they got?

Yea but if that's true that still doesn't mean the islands were annexed or that China now has control of them.

If this is true I'm happy to see proof of it.

I like the part that it was China that called for Lithuania to pull its ambassador from China. That took away from Lithuania the perception they wanted to spin they were in control and didn't need China. They could have spun it that China was begging for improved ties that China needed. Now Lithuania needs assurances from the US of support because they feel like they're not in control. They said themselves that Lithuania had little relations with China so China threatening trade ties that don't exist does little. That should be it. But no, China turned it around against them and the one thing they had to stand out and spin in the world is gone and Lithuania looks like a useless part of the world. Yes Lithuanian allies spend money they don't have to show China just for a worthless international reputation of strength now reduced to nothing. Before it didn't cost them money because there were no fruitful ties to be lost. Now it's going to cost them money to salvage Lithuania's image.

What's there to annex? Annex means it wasn't yours to begin with. Nobody is going to set up a settlement on Diaoyu Island, but Chinese maritime law enforcement is effectively controlling the neighboring waters. This is a unilateral change of status quo, and Japan can't do jack about it.
