Thomas Friedman has said a lot of idiotic things over the years. But some of his insight and views on China can be far more open minded than most journos. He is very hit and miss.

Australia will never learn their lesson until that lose the majority of its soldiers in a war. So if australia is dumb enough to start a fight near China, China can show australia what happens if China is armed with the kind of weapons they have now and not in the Vietnam war which obviously means that australia will finally taste the kind of loses of life that is long over due and long deserved for being the lapdog of the USA. In the same token, the USA will also finally get to taste the kind of loses of life that the Middle East and all those other nations have tasted for decades. Hopefully this will strike a powerful blow to these warmongers

Biden now knows how committed potential allies are (i.e. not very), and has seen his strategy confounded repeatedly.

He has shown how tough on China he is, “tougher than Trump!”, enough to convince most Americans, so is it now time to deescalate and cooperate?

Let’s see how long until the next Taiwan straight transit for a clue.

Australia followed America through many wars and willing to anger their biggest trade partner with constant warmongering. They are fundamentally white Christian Anglo nation in asia pacific region with elites determined to prop up US hegemony. It will take US economic and social collapse to change their fundamental attitude.

IF your source of news is from TV, Newspaper than you are at the mercy of their editor which more likely come from Japanese right wing circle or people in their middle age whose knowledge of China is limited and maybe outdated.

But having young Japanese inside China whether at School or at work or spouse bring the real China in focus. I read a lot of comment which basically said After viewing your Channel, my view of China completely change. Now I am interested in everything China . It surely beat the stereo type!
And having young people interact working with Chinese in China is one way. Ai Fukuhara speaks fluent Chinese even with dongbei accent, had a Chinese coach, played in China and lives now in Japan after retiring. She is able to relate her positive experiences and view of China to other Japanese. As a cultural ambassador she also plays a big role in social media, in both countries. It's usually limited to major table tennis events but I hear she has branched out to entertainment. Nevertheless compared to the usual anti china slant she will be bringing people closer together through sports and friendship. It won't solve the political problem but it will help create goodwill.

Pretend genius, Thomas Friedman has yet another brilliant collection of idea:

What Comes After the War on Terrorism? War on China?

Good Luck.

I can basically summarize his article as: I'm too chickenshit to go to war with China, but I'm still delusional enough to believe we can strong-arm China into doing what we want.

It is hard to be ''tougher than Trump'' because first of all, Trump had set the tone and laid the foundation for the US-China competition. Short of a war or a total trade embargo, you're either following in Trump's shoes or not.

That's essentially Anglo grand strategy: Get others to fight and die, then swoop in and declare victory; the most successful example being ww2.

Now that strategy is being pushed onto Asians; you have US officials going to Asia trying to get Asians to start a war with China so that the entire region goes to shit, so that white anglo supremacy can perpetuate and not fear the rise of the Asians.

That's what they want to try, but I don't see that happening for the simple reason that there are no Asian nations that are peer adversaries of China.
