Taiwan's response was pretty weak charging China wants to be like the Taliban just because China taunting how Taiwan is going to end up the same way. That's like dumb simple Republican logic where they think they're the good guys and if you don't do what they tell you, it's because you're aligned with the Devil. If Taiwan were to fall, the politicians are going to be stuffing their pockets full of cash and fleeing. They did the same thing after they lost China to the communists and fled to Taiwan. The US "trained" their military. The US trained the Afghan military. I bet like a lot of Asian countries think the US is going to do all the heavy lifting for them so they don't really think about it until it's too late. That's why Asian countries don't feel consequences. They think the US will be paying for it not them. Taiwan does have a lot of parallels to the Afghan government where they can only point to China taunting that the Taiwanese government is going to fold like the Afghan government to charge China wants to be like the Taliban. Of course the Financial Times is going to go along because they also want to deflect how much of an embarrassment Afghanistan is for the West. And they're not going to learn and will keep doing the same things over and over again based on the flawed logic they keep holding onto is that everyone in the world wants to be like them. So they think they just have to get rid of the government and rest will be easy. You don't think they think the same way with China? If they can get rid of the communists, the Chinese people will be able to freely worship the West as gods because that's nature. Instead they keep experiencing failure after failure after failure because they don't want to learn because it means what they believe in is not true.

If there was a massive nuclear attack on China by the US, Russia would simply fire their nukes back at US. Simply because so much nuclear fallout from China would reach Russia. And, Russians won't be able to tell if there a massive attack on China and those nukes aren't meant for them. They aren't gonna risk it and fire back. It goes beyond Russia being ''nice'' and ''reliable'' friend of China but more of a matter of surviving for Russia.

I think the risk would be the b-2 and b-21 bombers that would be able to deliver bombs or cruise missles.

Anyone else noticed that recently the West has taken seriously the (copium) "possibility" of Russia being actually an ally(or friend) to China.

At least now we wont have to suffer their fantasies about "Russia fears China taking Siberia", "The US can draw Russia away from China", "Russia and China are totally going to class about the Arctic sea" etc.

While always optimistic, my experience says that in a few weeks, the western "analysts" will soon start again with this same tiring talk. *Sigh*

Amongst all supposed "US Asian allies" , Taiwan has the lowest public confidence in US intervention in event of foreign invasion, something like 44% think US will intervene according a Pew(?) poll I saw few years back.

Hard to trust in US when China is growing by leaps in bounds fueled by record breaking trade between US "daddy" and China. I even spoke to a Taiwanese artillerymen who conscripted for two years, he said 'fight China and win?! No contest we will get wiped." when asked about beating PLA. Haha

So that Taiwanese artillery man then pretty much declared No to his Daddy U.S.

I shit you not, this is simply a sign of the decline of the anglo intellect; i once saw a newspaper headline back in early days saying "bo Xilai, He Daid?!"

Yea, this is a sign that their media publications really don't matter and simply exist to assuage a tiny minority's ego (e.g. tiny minority of warmongers and their elite circles).

Buzzword for supporting US policies. Number 1 slogan of Blinken when touring around the world

This might be a slight nod towards China.

I will say however that the first statement is much more implicit in supporting the US' position

"Rules-based international order"
You should really not cut out the words like the Western MSM do ... the deliberate omission and/or the spins & twists

"...rules-based international order in the region, based on international law, where all countries can both cooperate and compete peacefully with one another, and prosper together"

Have you ever heard such phrase -- "rules-based international order in the region, based on international law" -- from any Washington guy???

By common English language, it's obvious from the line that the "international law" takes subset of the "rules-based international order" so whatever Mr. Lee wanna convey to amuse the ears of his guests.
