You guys can call me a cold bastard, but I don’t feel much pity or compassion for these lot, since they are basically the Afghan version of the HK roaches and Hanjian who willingly and gladly sided with foreign occupiers to oppress and murder their fellow countrymen for 20 years.
I don't know what they were thinking. Do they think that those aircraft are like trains in India that hitchhike outside? I'm wordless!

If those clinging people have more brain they'll look for some hard stuffs to throw into the engine(s) instead of clinging on the taking-off aircraft and die in vain... so brainless, better sacrifice some suitcase even thing as small as a wristwatch throwing into the engine to prevent the aircraft from departing, rather than trying to be 21st century Samson! :p
And don't think that they're the peasant who don't understand aircraft.

Coming out of university the military were throwing big money to sign up.

Having a technical degree, there was a signing bonus. If you go to Afghanistan, tax free plus danger bonus.

You could probably come out of uni with a quarter million all money in the bank after 4 years.

In a place like Toronto, you could've bought a small house (with mortgage) and come out well over a million by now, or just dump that money into ETF, or buy a condo and rent it out for cash flow...

Can you tell it was tempting?
The Canadian Military was doing that? Or are you describing an experience from a Canadian fellow that went to school in the U.S. because I know that U.S. military were throwing insane amounts of money to people with the right technical expertise to attract those types of people. But as far as the Canadian military I don't think they had such program for Canadian recruits because Canadian military wasn't and isn't really that well funded.

From India's perspectives on the most recent development in Afghanistan. I think it's also good that we gain some perspective(s) from India and it's future role with Afghanistan because it's not a stretch to say that most of the Indians are upset with the Taliban takeover of the country since they're going to blame Pakistan regardless of whatever outcomes happen in Afghanistan. Not to mention India's seemingly obsession with becoming a serious global power and not just a regional power within South Asia that has played a deleterious effect on it's relationship with China.

No comparison.

Many of those fleeing are opportunists indeed ( young men) but you will see women with children running too. Considering what Taliban has done to Afghanistan during the later 1990s to women, they are fleeing out of fear and desperation.
Equating them with the pampered spoilt lot in HK is grave wrong.

I'm all for pointing fingers at US. There is no point in them staying in Afghanistan for so long and it can only be greed, malice and naivety that made them do it. But the situation would've been worse if Taliban were to be in Afghanistan since 1990s.

The Taliban is more likely to collapse due to infighting than form a stable functioning government.Right now the Taliban seems to have learned better. They are doing the politician talk - walking a fine line, being non aggressive and ambiguous. All I hope is for them to hold on to this.
