Let me ask you this: if you only read the headline/sub-headline and didn’t move on to the actual story, which 70-80% of people actually do, what would you think that they are talking about?

If reported by "CNN Sports" in the "Sports section", yes, it's obviously sports or Olympics-related, and Everybody already knows Tokyo Olympics has rising COVID cases and mass-protests on cancelling the games even before the opening ceremony.

The usage of "...." suggests a separate story, not contiguous with the previous story. It's a "Live Update" CNN Sports story that often combines multiple stories into one.

I often complain about US media biases and double-standards, and I don't see how this is one example.

Wait. You didnt notice anything strange the way they said it?

Standard US subtle propaganda

It's a "Live Update" which combines multiple-stories into one for brevity. Hence the "...." which is common for "Live Updates" for sports given how low people's attention spans are.

I understand the quarantine measures before entering Japan, but a 48 hour eviction order right after the games is plain disrespectful.
@siegecrossbow WOW!!! that's discrimination and I blame the IOC. The organization need to provide vaccination in advance if India can't able to, it only diminished the Olympic games and its spirit.

Come on @Phead128

Lol . "English language comprehension?! "

If you bothered to actually read what I wrote and I quote below:

"Yes be that as it may. That's not the point. If you want to point out the case is rising in Japan"

When and where did I say is not Japanese cases? I was just pointing out that the journalists and editors are deliberately clubbing the two together to create a "different" tune on China's gold medal success.
Well, it's a "Live Updates" so they have a tendency to combine multiple stories as a matter of brevity.... due to people's short attention spans and the rapid nature of sports updates.

I agree though, in general, US propaganda has a tendency to lump all the negatives with China, even if there is a superficial connection. Atleast with this one, I think the author was "Twitter concise" or too lazy by combining two stories with a "...." , not necessarily trying to damage China's reputation.

I hope China pulls an upset and wins the most golds, although that is unlikely, considering the Olympics are stacked with medals for sports that westerners (and Japan for this particular one) excel at.

Would be a huge and subtle slap in the face for the US and Japan, considering the location and geopolitical situation.

The real slap will be when China hosts the Olympics next year with great success.

Then the whole world will be able to see and compare which country did better, China or Japan...

Why unlikely? China did win the most Golds in 2008 and by a good margin. So certainly its possible if the athletes keep performing like they did today.

Certainly. Western countries seem to be underperforming in Asian Olympics (the different climate?), if China also keeps up with its current form it might grab the first position on the gold medals

In Beijing 2008, China had 639 athletes performing while 2nd highest US had 596. In 2021 Tokyo, China has 420 athletes while highest US has 613. Pretty easy to see that America will win this event.
