I dont know how old Wang Jingyu because he seems like a young man to me and what led to his supposed trouble in China is the Americanization of his world outlook and politics. Which is what made him express his comments about the India-China border spat that turned deadly.

He being of Chinese origin and citizen must have known about the existing laws prohibiting anyone from making or inferring comments that can be seen and interpreted as damaging to the military uniformed personnel. Instead, he flapped his gums by making political interpretations from the tragic even and some said made insulting remarks against the Chinese soldiers that died. I hope Wang Jingyu is not one of these another spoiled useless China bashing Chinese all because he assumes that he's better than the rest of his contemporaries simply based on a fact that he has been to America and is a green card holder.
Kid's a loser looking for his 15 minutes. Keep it up and he will wind up like that freak Amos Yee from Singapore.

A lot of these kids' issues has to do with lack of success with the opposite sex, and less to do with freedom of speech of ideals.

Some time in a room alone to assess his future could do him some good. Also, stop spending money on shit clothes, and get on AAS regiment for a few months and a makeover would solve most of his problems. But stay away from cocaine, or whatever did Zyzz in.

IMO he is just a kid

Yes I know, "18 yrs old you are an adult" yada yada. Studies have shown that especially for males, they can reach maturity at latest at 25 yrs old.

They should just send him a warning to not do it again

And what did he even say?
Wang then publicly questioned on social media why the Chinese government waited six months to release the information
I mean is he wrong? I dont find this unreasonable. Imagine your family and/or your country's people being on the dark for six months about India murdering you in cold blood.

The CPC ofc had its own (IMO correct) reasons for doing so but that doesn't mean that Wang was incorrect on his comments, two things can be true at the same time

Unless Went said something else, then this comment should not be punished. Worrying sign if only this comment put him into trouble

@Bellum_Romanum @steel21 do you know if he said something else as well?

If I am not mistaken he said something along the lines of Indian Jawans were peaceful and that China encroached on their territory. He also weaved a story of how 80 PLA soldiers were buried alive by the Jawans (which is impossible in the terrain). Kid is more Jai Hind than Jai Hind.

But I too think the sentencing is excessive. He pretty much has high social stigmas anyway.

I'm ok with the sentencing, it's not like he has anything else going on in his life.

Just need to do a "where are they now" follow up on how his life was transformed once he got on a penal regiment.

Might as well set the example with these cretins and avoid future headaches.

It also serves as a warning to parents to not let your spoiled brat get out of hand. I.E. "if you don't spank him, we will, on your behalf".

That might not really be necessary. Apparently he was bad mouthing Muslims online when he was in UAE and he got incarcerated for that. Good news is he was released by UAE, bad news is he is in Turkey now :).

Just a kid. Throw him into administration detention for a week, send him a stern warning to not do it again, and then contact his parents and relatives to let them know about it.

Then watch as the guy becomes the strongest PLA supporter lol

IMO at this age I dont even consider him an adult. I think the above proposed actions should have been enough. A prison sentence is too much and AFAIK it will also be inserted into his criminal record, thus destroying his life later on because he did something immature at such a young age.

Well, China can spare the incarceration expenditure. I heard Turkish prisons are a bit stiffer than the Chinese ones.

From what I remember, the experience severely altered Lawrence of Arabia.

Looks like the kid is one of those evolutionary specimens that likes to shit where he eats.

Oh well, he's going to learn the hard way how his ass can cash those checks his mouth overdrafts.

The kid has a rebellious streak and is on a rebellious phase coupled with the fact that he's spend some time in the U.S. already hence him being a green card holder sparked that "individualist" streak which resulted of him conducting up insulting s..t against the fallen PLA soldiers. Now he's become persona non-grata and I don't think he should have been given anything less than what he got lest we want a creeping westernization (losing of Chinese morals and what's permissible speech) of Chinese culture. It's harsh in some ways but there must be some consequences for being a bone head without being penalized in the extreme which I don't think was the case here.
