Not a rhetoric but a genuine question, I wonder if there is any real case that the "market forces" solve the social inequality issue in any where, any country?

I believe the social inequality issue can only be solved by the government policy and/or intervention. "Market force" (or Capitalism) won't solve issues like this per se.

Btw, I just noted a video about "Israel laser guided air defense artillery"

I wonder how effective is this laser stuff? earlier clip like this already circulated in socmed touting its greatness. Visually it gives an impressive view.
First off, that’s just standard gun based CIWS. Secondly, that’s CGI.

Good question. I shall use that for my students. This is why we always say is private profit but social loss. Private enterprises are there for one reason and one reason alone. To make as much money for their owners as possible.

So if there's no profit in it. The market won't exist. We economists called this missing market. A lot of the public/social infrastructure/project have no profitable outcome. Or the returns takes a long time. The capitalist would simply look for alternative project that yield a bigger/quicker return.

Sometimes "moral hazard" can lead to risk taking. As in the capitalist makes lots of risky projects knowing the public will pick up the tab when things goes belly up. Bankers for example in the run up to the credit crunch in 2008.

:eek::eek: So I had been writing my Chinese colleagues' names in the wrong order while I was in China for 3.5 years. I almost never had to write both names of somebody else but it is still so embarrassing to hear now.

Lol, the "wrong order" is the "right order" when a Chinese name is addressed either orally or in writing. You address either orally or in writing the FM of China as "Wang Yi" and not "Yi Wang" which would sound odd or even impolite. The same with Xi Jinping, Wen Jiabao, etc.

Chinese "first name" or "given name" is usually 2 syllable, i.e. Jinping, Jiabao.

Breaks my heart reading this.
Even worse. Nothing will be done. Only thing is that I pray that in the coming future that Canada shares in the grim future with the USA so that all those innocent children will eventually be avenged one way or the other. Before Canada never had much of a spot light on their treatment of natives, now these acts are now fighting its way to the surface and one it comes out, it’s going to be difficult to hide the truth

@BoraTas typically Chinese people in Westrrn countries follow the first name first, last name second approach but Chinese people in China follow the original.

For example: Jack Ma is called Ma Yun in China.

To be fair, the English media use the Chinese names inconsistently, so it's understandable that they would be confusing to non-Chinese speaking people.

As far as I can tell, there appears to be some conventions emerging. For Chinese in China, particularly the well-known people like politicians and celebrities, their names in Pinyin are used in their Chinese order. For example, Xi Jingping, Hu jintao, Jiang Zemin, Deng Xiaoping, Yao Ming. But for Chinese living in the west with English names, they would follow the western convention, such as Vera Wang, David Chang, Andrew Yang.

What about Chinese living in the west without an obvious western name? Well, it's all over the place. It could be Tao Wang or Wang Tao, Feng Zhang or Zhang Feng. At least these have better known family names. What about Ouyang Shasha? It'll be difficult for the non-Chinese speaking people to tell which is family name and which is given name.
