Coronavirus 2019-2020 thread (no unsubstantiated rumours!)

Vaccines are far far too late for India now. It takes two weeks for even the first dose to kick in, and huge numbers of Indians don’t have two weeks.

The only option is an aggressive national lockdown of all major cities with the military moving in to deliver MREs door to door and enforce effective curfews.

But even China would struggle to mount such a massive logistical operation, so I honest think the Modi government has zero chance. They have managed to fuck things up so colossally that at this point they are just going to have to ride this out.

I honestly think it would be a win if they can keep the death toll to 7 figures before all this is over, and that’s just inside their own boarders. If this mutant strain is as dangerous as I feared, it could reset global vaccination efforts and we will all have to go back into lockdown to avoid similar scenes playing out across the globe.

I am hoping for the best, but preparing for the worst. I would advise everyone outside of China to do likewise.

I reckon there's a minimum of 6 weeks before India can hope that the virus burns out after most people have been infected.

But realistically, I think it is more likely to be 2-3months, because there are other cities running some weeks behind Mumbai.

So vaccines over the next 2 months will still be useful.

Yes, I'm preparing for another wave in the UK in 2-3months time.

The horse cow has left the barn this time.

of India’s Covid-19 vaccines at a time when the pandemic is rampaging through the second most populous country on Earth, causing fear, panic and death on an appalling scale.

The calls come from some of the most powerful men in India. They come from the chief ministers of Indian states, heads of business conglomerates and others demanding instant supplies of Covishield, as the AstraZeneca vaccine is known in India. “ ‘Threats’ is an understatement,” Poonawalla says. “The level of expectation and aggression is really unprecedented. It’s overwhelming. Everyone feels they should get the vaccine. They can’t understand why anyone else should get it before them.”

That’s assuming the Modi government can use vaccines in a scientific and rational way, which i just cannot see him doing.

If China sent India vaccines now, the Indians will waste them by sending them to the worst hit hot zones only and then bitch and moan about ‘defective’ Chinese vaccines when that predictably achieves fuck all.

India is the proverbial scorpion when it comes to China. They are so bitter and full of hate, they would kill themselves just to stab China in the back. China will forget that to it’s own cost, because even now, the Indian government would still go out of their way to screw over China. Especially now that they feel slighted since even their white overlords they worship so are telling them to lean from China’s example. To the Indians, there can be no crueller insult. But they will direct all the rage and hate at China instead of the Americans who publicly bitch slapped them so. Part of me thinks that was the intention all along when the White House gave Faccui the green light to make those remarks in the first place.
