Having my second shot of Sinovac today. Something interesting (or terrible) happened, not to me but another guy that he took the first shot of Sinopharm but went to the wrong place and took the second shot of Sinovac. I know medical workers should have had checked his card but they were careless and allowed the incident to happen. I didn't stay to wait to see how they solved it.

Just curious, mixed vaccines have been talking for sometime but no one has really done it yet. What would be the result?

The same dead virus, just a different brand name.

He probably won't be taking a third shot until at least six months from now.

He should be monitored for any side effects, and whatever health institute is responsible, should monitor him, including taking antibody tests to see if the two shots produced antibodies, and to see how much more or less antibodies are generated compared to subjects taking two pure shots of Sinovac or Sinopharm. He should 'volunteer' himself for study on the effects of mixing vaccines and he should now be a medical subject of interest. Valuable data can be obtained from this that can be vital for all.

The two COVID-19 vaccines developed by Chinese drugmakers Sinopharm and Sinovac can be used interchangeably in the two-shot inoculation process, Shenzhen health authorities said on Thursday.

It’s also a test, because people who can’t take 21 days of quarantine are also most likely to be the kind who lack self control and discipline and are most likely to be infected and pass it on to others. Call it a Karen test if you would.
As a person with a psychology degree I personally think 21 days is too long. I wouldn't buy the whole just toughen yourself up talk. After a few days of solitary confinement your hippocampus starts to shrink and your amygdala starts to expand. So I'm more of an advocate for 14 days solitary confinement plus extra quarantine at home or with protected nurses checking in on you at a medical facility regularly for the remaining don't-know-how-many days.

It was absolutely tough for Wuhan folks, but at least most had fellow family in their apartments and didn't have to serve a few months of quarantine in a hotel or we would have seen a mental health epidemic in Wuhan. Anyway there was already a mental health epidemic in Wuhan from the extremely long lockdown.

Of course it's better to have mental illness than to be dead from a virus, but hopefully it doesn't have to be mutually exclusive outcomes.

I'm just curious and taking in your predictions on when the pandemic and accompanying restrictions will finally come to an end

But solitary confinement is different from being home with your TV, cellphone, Wechat, dating sites, gaming systems, internet, (illegal) porn, etc... right? Or you mean that people literally need the pheromones and physical interaction of another human around in order to stave off those effects?

No I think home quarantine is better. Quarantine in a hotel or an unfamiliar environment is more problematic over long durations.
