Certainly US sanctions has starved NK, but CN which is supposed to be NK "ally" has participed in the last hash sanction imposed on NK.
Can we imagine US helping an opponent of Israel to put sanction on Israel.
China participated the UN sanction, not the starving US sanctions. A letter makes a huge difference. UN sanction does not block trade related to commoners daily life. It is US trying to equate their illegal and inhumane sanction to UN's nuclear focused sanction, to which China has been repeatedly opposed and ignored. I am sure you have heard lots of noises from US about China's "breaching" of US sanctions.

The bottom line of China is "there should be no nuclear weapon on the peninsular", not officially at least (see Israel). Crossing that line is punishable by sanctions. You can try to imagine what would US do if Israel crossed red line drawn by USA. Just remember what US did to Israel when the later was trying to sell the AWAC to China. Israel bulged, what do you think if it did not? Apparently Israel was "smarter" than NK.

Being an "ally" has obligations, alliance is NOT a blank cheque.

China shows its true power..

My brief highlights of China's drives are:
  1. Inviting Palestine and Israel dialogue in China. direct Chinese involvement.
  2. Calling for gulf security dialogue. China hosting it rather than being a mere attendee of western initiative. First time ever a dialogue that is bringing Saudi Arabia and Iran to the same table.
  3. Pushing for UN sanctioned Iranian nuclear deal. Reminding USA that the rule of law is UN's and UN's only.

I trust readers and members here can filter through the usual western nonsense (e.g., Chinese regime, rule-based international order) and lens in the article and read between the lines.

The days of China ‘hiding and biding’ on the world stage are clearly now over.

That maxim, espoused by Deng Xiaoping, China's leader from 1978 to 1989, advocated concealing the nation's might from the world and going about its business quietly.

Today the reverse is true.

- targeting MPs, academics, even legal groups - show the regime of Xi Jinping will not tolerate dissent from anyone, anywhere.

The signs of a fresh approach to critics of China, both at home and abroad, have been piling up. There was the

, criminalising dissent within the territory but also - ominously - said to apply globally.

Foreign media outlets including the Telegraph have come under attack from Beijing for coverage of China that doesn’t align with the official narrative.

Just this week, foreign brands including Burberry and

after they stopped sourcing cotton from Xinjiang over forced labour concerns.

Why the sudden surge of aggression? China is the fastest growing power in the world, and Beijing is tired of being criticised and bullied by the West.

The regime's tit-for-tat sanctions show China's leaders now consider themselves powerful enough to fight back against the old powers of the West – the underlying message being, ‘anything you can do, we can do too.’

“The days when foreign powers could force China open its doors with cannons are long gone; also gone are the days when several so-called scholars and media could unscrupulously malign China in collusion without being punished,” Chinese foreign ministry spokesperson Hua Chunying declared this week.

So China is flexing its muscles to challenge a rules-based world order set by the West in a campaign to be treated as an equal. It plays well at home.

But there are genuine questions over whether the show of force is wise. Beijing’s behaviour is certainly not winning hearts and minds, and instead appears to be doing damage to its international standing.

Countries from the Philippines to Ecuador lodged complaints when Beijing sent boats to assert its territorial claims over international waters and to fish illegally.

Australia, which led early calls for an independent inquiry into the pandemic and the first to ban Chinese telecoms firm Huawei, has been hit by sky-high tariffs on its exports to China.

Canada is still grappling with

, who have been detained since 2018, being used by Beijing to punish Ottawa for arresting a Chinese tech executive.

These actions are beginning to prompt countries to rethink what engagement with China ought to look like.

Beijing has long bet that most countries would be wooed by lucrative opportunities with the world’s second-largest economy.

How long that will continue to be the case remains to be seen. Britain, for its part, is unlikely to step back from

, and it's hard to see how China could cool tensions if it wanted to.

But even if Beijing becomes increasingly isolated, its leaders might not mind - China has never set too much store in having allies and now seems to see them as a burden leading the West into decline.

A key test of whether Beijing can get away with throwing it weight around like this will be whether the EU moves to ratify an investment agreement with China. It has been in the works for seven years but EU officials were expressing doubts even before they were hit with sanctions.

Whether the deal is approved, renegotiated, or scrapped entirely will send a message to Beijing – either that it can indeed do what it wants, or that it’s crossed a line.

The US's claim of genocide is only about forcing allies making money from China to decouple from China in a fake outrage and morality play. It's not because they care or else their armies would be attacking China now. That's how serious they take their own charges of genocide. They don't even break diplomatic and economic relations. Isn't that the least they have to do if they see genocide as serious? This shows the weakness of the US because they're scared to take on China alone. They're in fear if they take on China alone and lose, the US will be isolated in the world. Everything they fear that China will do to them in future is everything they're doing to China right now. Just imagine if China got countries together to put sanctions on the US. How about forcing the US to pay reparations? Remember, the valuable strategic resources the US needs are mostly in non-white countries that were colonized by the West. It would be not that hard to get countries together to slap sanctions on the US. In their paranoia they know that to be true. That's why don't believe the US is ready to counter China's Belt and Road. That would be giving those countries strength to join in slapping sanctions on the US for anything they do wrong. Look at the outrage that China gave a taste of their own medicine in Alaska. Just imagine a bunch of countries sanctioning the US like punishing them if they develop "dangerous" technology? Look at how many in the US government is angry including Blinken on something as simple as how China finally dished what the US serves to China all the time. It's not like the charges China made of the US are not true. It was the truth that what got them even more angry. If as they claim they believe in good governance, then they should happily accept the very same criticism they give to China. As usually everything is black and white with the US. They have to look like the US is a utopia where nothing is wrong in order to expect others to blindly obey them without question because they're always right. Now because China exposed US problems, others can stop to question because the US is guilty and not in a position to judge from a higher moral ground.

China should capitalise on this to destroy the idea that America cares about Asians. Let this be a lesson to all those FLG and HK Democratic supporters out the that by supporting the USA, that support the genocide of Asians everywhere and in the new world or the world where the USA loses its strength that from now on, you either treat China and Asia with respect or get hanged like how the USA does it all the time, see how they like it when it is done I return. They have had a century to solve its racism issue, now they will see how China does it and no more mercy will be given

and the "unfortunate event" that led him to pursue a career in public service. While in Chicago during the 1970s, someone beat him up for being Asian, according to Wong.
"We went to court and he never got punished, so that changed the course of my career. I went to the U.S. Army and served 20 years in active duty. For too long, I have put up with a lot of s--- in silence, excuse me the language," Wong said. "Too afraid to speak out, fearing more abuse and discrimination."

"Don't get me wrong, people love me in this community and I love them, too, but there are some ignorant people that would come up to me and say that I don't look American enough or patriotic enough," Wong said before he started to take off his suit and unbutton his shirt. "I'm not afraid. I don't have to live in fear."
"Here's my proof," he said as he stood up with his shirt open, showing the scars. "Now, is this patriot enough?"
"Before, I was fairly inhibited. People look at me strange, and then they question my loyalty to this country?" Wong said. "The last I read the American Constitution, we the people, we are all the same. We are equal."
"Prejudice is hate, and that hate can be changed. We are human. We need to be kinder, gentler, to one another," Wong added.

I read a story at one of these protests last weekend, I forget which city they said, a bunch of Uighurs showed up to counter protest fully supporting racist attacks on Asians. Of course they wanted Chinese people attacked but they didn't care if other ethnicities were attacked because it was more important that any Chinese get attacked. Some Uighur organizations had to come out and denounce the counter protests.
