Actually the population of China in 2021 is your stated number plus another 43.37 million people,
which the tailing figure itself is larger the whole population of Canada :)

Indeed it is very challenging for every one to imagine rightly in his mindset, to have the correct mental picture of the population at such gigantic size... with all of its implications, pros and cons.

Only a small minority display extreme behavior and most people disapprove of that. But then its their personal freedom to burn their shoes and subsequently grab attention and followers in social media.

While Western opinion tends to label the boycott actions of the Chinese as nationalism which could create risks for foreign businesses in China, the belief of the Chinese is that foreign companies, whether Western or Asian, should not eat Chinese food and smash Chinese bowls at the same time.

Chinese Foreign Minister Wang Yi arrived in Iran on Friday for a visit that Iranian state media said would see the signing of a 25-year cooperation agreement between the two countries, which are both under US sanctions.
The accord, final details of which are yet to be announced, is expected to include Chinese investments in Iran’s energy and infrastructure sectors.
Folks, history is being made today.

I get the sense this is the stand taken by BCI China Office, not necessarily that of BCI. We'll have to see what BCI itself has to say and do. They may decide to play both sides.

Remind me of the reaction of the staff of WSJ China Office when WSJ published that infamous opinion piece "China is the sick-man of Asia" last year. I think Chinese people in general are sick 'n' tired of the western hypocrisy and lies.

You want Chinese people to descend to the levels of Jai Hinds?
I don't see how burning their own products can be called descending? Rather in fact I feel the Chinese people need this kind of patriotic act. They are not throwing molotovs at the company like HK, they are not attacking anyone who isn't them like in India or the US, they are simply burning the products to show their displeasure. I support these people because they've been too quiet for too long. Boycotts are good and all but I don't believe it sends a strong enough message.

From the MFA spokeperson, Hua Chunying:

"Since they don't listen to what we tried to explain over and over again, I think the best way is to respond in a way that they can understand and remember," Hua said.

Hua said she sensed that countries like the UK and the US were not used to China's changes, as they have long been used to criticizing or sanctioning other countries without being hit back, which is unequal.

"They may be not used to it now, but gradually they should be," Hua said.
