GFCI 29 is out and the No. 3 to 8 spots are occupied by Asian cities (sorry not a single Indian one). London has fallen significantly because of Brexit and is only one point away from losing its No 2 spot.

Seizure warning for Indian nationalists: not a single Indian city makes it to the top 50. 60 actually. The chances of India making it to the top 50 is the same as India winning a gold medal in the Olympics

Kyli, I don't know how you manage to read through these or even find them. I always get a mild headache reading any of that trash. It's like a group of blind people yelling at others for not seeing clearly.
I thought they were rather good articles. Don't laugh, I am being serious here.

1. The first article was short, and all they were reporting was about some Chinese government issued guidelines on livestock feed consumption. Farm animals like pigs and cows, industrial farming has them fed with soymeal and corn. That's it. There nothing more to that article. However, we can safely say that there is not enough animal feed, they have to buy more. Suggests also Chinese incomes are raising, increasing meat consumption.

2. The second article was a general observation, and no details were given. The observation was the Chinese Communist Party, was trying to figure out what to do with the "platform" services of the dominant Chinese companies. That is good. The CCP is that advanced in their thinking, and are trying to work with the companies for the betterment of society. That is very sophisticated IMHO. In Canada, if someone says the government should investigate the interaction of "platform" services with Canadian society, no one will have a clue what is been spoken about.

It is a complicated topic.

3. The third article was written by a fairly serious person, that Hsu woman. Here I cheated, because I saw a Youtube video of her before, where she discussed Chinese fintech and debt. More or less she sticking to the same lines, and that was reasonable. The Chinese has debt, and this is what they might do to manage that.

Good observation, I would also note that China regulating platforms is very very important.

Nowaday almost all companies' end goal is to build a platform, monopolise the industry, raise a commision rate of 30-50% and then sit and collect free cash while blocking competitors from rising.

China should come down hard on all these kinds of platforms and set clear regulations and enforce them strongly (no small fines and all this bs) because currently the platforms are clearly monopolistics and are stifling innovation

Not only that but India’s highest ranking city, Mumbai, is also the second most downgraded city in the list. No. 1 for downgrades is New Delhi.

India lost the "globalisation" train to ASEAN by declining to join the RCEP agreement.

Now the only hope India has is that it can milk the EU and the US. However the EU and the US are not stupid and will not make the same mistake as they did with China, so India better forget serious Technology Transfers.

I am puzzled why unbalanced focus towards Chinese debt, when US splurge on stimulus and QE to the point that financially conservative ideology is almost dead.
You are not alone.

After a while ... we just have to conclude that it is:-

1) a distraction so that no one asks any questions about USA debt

2) everyone has debt including China, no point about pointing out American debt, here, that means no one points out how the QE gets into the hands of the American banker who lends it to his friends, and his friends don't live in the ghetto

(Either way, they try to hide the question of US debt altogether, or try to hide where does the money go after it is printed, perhaps both at the same time they try to hide it)

Small news on its own, but kind of playing into the narrative. Best illustrated by this absurd piece in the BBC

IMO, trash reporting by the BBC. First and foremost, these recruiters are going to rural villages Uighur or not. One of the hypothesized reasons behind the Foxconn suicides from a few years ago was being away from home, so it doesn’t target Uighurs specifically.

Second, the incredible contradiction between Western social attitudes and political stances at play here is kind of ridiculous.

One of the elements of this poverty reduction strategy is knock on effects of the working people sending money home. This additional money will improve their home economy which was otherwise subsistence farming.
There was a relatively recent example of this:

Of course you can argue whether this is a wise spending decision, but it was supported by the locals.
Furthermore, this was being built in a Miao minority area (related to Hmong people. Maybe the CCP can point out that Hmong people are amongst the poorest minorities in the USA?)

Second, its incredibly common for such programs in a place like Canada to prop up indigenous youth since they have difficultly finding employment. I have yet to hear anyone call this "cultural genocide" (maybe because it already happened).

Finally, after the armchair liberal outrage over women not being able to legally drive in Saudi Arabia until recently, I can't imagine why anyone would support a teenager being married off into what is likely an arranged marriage with no other choice in life besides mother/homemaker (as mentioned by the CGTN response).
