My impression of China, when I went there, before all the people moved off the land into these factories, was that at that time, China was a land of subsistence farmers.

Life was hard.

Jobs in those factories were far better than what everyone had to deal with on the farm.
It was back then but it is different now continuing with screw and assembled job is not sustainable because it add no value and reducing china to low standard of living

It can be automated. More importantly, it cultivates a supplier ecosystem.

Outsourcing assembly manufacturing was what the US did 40 years ago; you don't want to end up deindustrialized like them do you?
True. China should strive to upgrade its factories so complete supply ecosystem remains in the country and so it wont leave any crubs on the table for India to.grab

Hope those farmers bear in mind that endorsing pompeo will lead them to being sanctioned.

This never works. A good example would be Taiwanese farmers, who are the biggest DPP supporters. When the mainland purchases agricultural products from Taiwan, it is just 统战 tactics. But if the mainland cuts off trade and the farmers suffer, the CPP are the devil-incarnate and they support the DPP even more.
