New Type98/99 MBT thread

Neden yabancı bir tank almalı? 99A iyi değil mi? PLA, 99A'dan% 100 memnun olmasa bile, yine de mümkün olduğunda yerli ürünlere odaklanmalıdır. Yerli silah geliştirme programlarını ve endüstrilerini desteklemek artık Çin'in 1 numaralı stratejik hedefi. Herhangi bir özel üründen daha önemlidir.

Does China have a new tank project?
Even if they don't, they need to develop one on their own. They cannot rely on others indefinitely. They need to grow up. Adults solve their own problems, not running to their mommy every time they need something. If they feel the need for a new tank, build your own tank!

Well this question is off topic but I'll try my best to answer. Looking at the Armata project, it seems like the biggest problem is procurement in large numbers. If China ordered them(probably in the hundreds), it is unlikely that Russia can manufacture enough to deliver on time(not sure why, maybe sanctions or financial problems).

There's also the problem with logistics(They will have to source all their parts from Russia like ammo, engine parts etc) - not good in the event of a war. Finally, China has been building tanks domestically ever since they got the Type 59s, never have they bought foreign tanks except for analysis + they're developing a 4th generation tank right now, so... Armata isn't needed (they might even have it in service before Russia could deliver all Armata tanks on time if ordered)

Russia is not Ukraine. Their military procurement is limited by budgetary constraints and not by the maximum output capacity of UVZ. If China orders 1000 T-14Es, UVZ would be more than glad to deliver it on time. The Russian army would also be glad because economies of scale means they also get more Armata platforms of all types including T-14, T-15, 2S35s, etc.

More likely than not, that sort of deal would include having a domestic production line for whatever spare parts might be needed, if not the production line for the tank entirely.

But China buying T-14s is outside the question anyway. For one, it is unneeded and having next-generation MBTs such as T-14 is on the lowest of the PLA's priorities now (pretty much all of PLAGF is low on the priority scale currently). And it weighs around the same as the 99A currently in production. So if there are places where the 99A is too heavy for, then it will also be true for the T-14. That means T-14 can only be the replacement for the 99A, which absolutely does not have a need for an immediate replacement in frontline units right now, nor an immediate need for a replacement in factories either.

When a replacement is finally required one day, there will almost certainly be a domestic next-generation MBT that has finished development and be in mass production, if not already serving in some units already. And only if this is somehow not the case, then will the PLA seriously consider procurement of foreign MBTs as an interim backup solution

Using the T-14s as an opfor vehicle might have some use. With the secondary benefit of test/comparisons being able to be conducted. But I don't think the cost benefit ratio would be worthwhile.

I agree with your assessment.

T-14 Armata is certainly a capable platform based on information available. I think it's currently the most advanced tank in any country's arsenal and find its features very impressive.

War isn't fought on a single platform. To be able to utilize its advanced electronic and automation features of the Armata, a country needs to have the supporting systems as well. Even though it has anti-projectile capabilities, it's unlikely to survive sustained and precise artillery fire or from other munitions. One system isn't going to change the war.

China doesn't have a strong incentive to purchase a capable foreign system in large numbers, if it's at the expense of domestic industries and not providing a significant increase in overall war fighting capability. There might be some merit in purchasing small numbers for opfor testing but simulations might be more cost effective, like how China uses existing Chinese tanks to simulate Abrams with modified metrics in exercises.

Why not buy armata? Armata is a good tank

Why doesn't Turkey recognize Armenian genocide? The genocide really happened.

Why doesn't Erdogan give up power to Gülen? Gülen is much wiser than Erdogan.

Why do you keep derailing threads with off-topic one-liner questions?

Why don't you follow our forum rules?

Türkiye neden Ermeni soykırımını tanımıyor? Soykırım gerçekten oldu.

Erdoğan neden Gülen'e iktidarı bırakmıyor mu? Gülen, Erdoğan'dan çok daha akıllı.

Konu dışı tek satırlık sorularla neden incelik raydan çıkarıp duruyorsunuz?

Neden forum kurallarımıza uymuyorsunuz ?

Look... you are welcome in the forum, welcome to ask questions and we have no problem if you have issues with English... we are just asking you to stick to the topic of this thread, which is the Type 99 tanks and everything about the Type 99... if you are interested in the possibility of say a T14 purchase... reasons why and why not, you can and are more than welcome to do that in for example the Russian military thread or ask anything thread...

I come here to know about the latest news of the Type 99... while I don’t have an issue with the occasional off topic discussions branching off from discussions of the Type 99... your question was literally about something else entirely and with no reasoning of relevance on top... and there are threads catering for it already, so please ask in those threads
