One correction: the so-called Uighur genocide in Xinjiang is the biggest lie of the century.
It's been so outrageous that the accusations have been kept upgrading from re-education camp, internment to genocide, and the numbers of affected Uighurs have gone up from thousands, to one million, and to as high as three millions.
In fact, the current Chinese anti-extremist/anti-terrorist policy in Xinjiang has been the more effective one in a long string of less successful policies tried before in Xinjiang over previous two decades. The results are reflected in the much-reduced terrorist activities committed by Uighurs in Xinjiang and throughout China. The program has tried to de-radicalize some of the more vulnerable Uighur population through some compulsive education, language and vocational training so they can become law-biding and more productive citizens. It's a much better program than simply rounding-up and putting millions of people in jail with no prospect to become more productive members of the society, as have been the case in the US.
