I really hope all the vaccines pass testing with success and put a stop to the pandemic with appropriately managed roll outs. It's going to be a cluster fuck of resistance and dramas but sane people still outnumber the crazies and stupid out there. Here's to hoping the vaccines are effective against all strains. Would be a nice Christmas treat.

The vaccination campaign will last six to twelve months. Therefore it is irrelevant who starts 14 days earlier or later. And especially in the first weeks and months, the number of people vaccinated will be small. The last months of the vaccination campaign are all the more important, then the organization has to be perfect.

In the meantime we can already start thinking about the next vaccination season. Will the Covid-19 vaccination replace the flu vaccination in importance? Especially since the distance rules will probably remain in part. There was no recognizable flu wave this winter.

Sounds like the UK just pushed SA under the bus. The UK did such a bad job identifying the new mutation (apparently started in September), took them 4 months. And they said China is withholding info after 2 weeks?

This is just UK trying to get the heat off of themselves.

Indeed, timing is mega sus given the effective EU blockade against the UK.

Initially I suspect that was a bit of Brexit negotiations pressure tactics, to give the UK a taste of what a no-deal Brexit would actually mean in the real world; but now i am wondering if it’s maybe a warning against the UK making any public claims that this new mutant strain originated on continental Europe.

Maybe it’s the EU killing two birds with one stone.
